I get dressed every day for this reason. I enjoy looking good and put together. I’m not a casual person.

I feel the same about clothes and also literally everything in life. My lifestyle preferences and choices are so different now. I don’t know how I am go back to pre-covid.

I put all my dresses and heels in the back of my closet and swapped them out for sneakers 👟 (pumas, classic reebok, etc.) I wear shorts, tshirts and jeans now. It’s still a style, just different.

I don’t miss all of the ironing and dry cleaning, but I do kind of miss buying nice dress clothes and looking snazzy in the office. Dressing up was definitely a subconscious confidence booster for me. Now I just wear polos and shorts. 🙃

Consider Rent the Runway. I own very few clothes and I’ve paused my membership during this time. I do think the quarantine has been a good time to become more mindful about ALL spending habits and our relationship with buying stuff.

Me too 😢 I love fashion and summer especially is the time when all my colorful printed dresses and heels come out. I have been trying to get as much use possible on the weekends even if I’m just going out for errands or outdoor dinner with the husband, so I have some sense of normalcy for me

I actually miss dressing up for work. But I’m also enjoying the sweats and being comfortable. I’m so torn

Ugh I totally relate to this. I was thinking of splurging on an investment piece, been planning this purchase for like a year, but now I’m so adjusted to not going to the office or out to dinner or events and I’m starting to think what would be the point of buying it if I’ll never use it?

How can I set the stage this year to negotiate a lower billable hours expectation instead of a raise? As a woman I'm hesitant to be open about my reason: I want more time at home with my kids. I lateraled to this firm a year ago for WLB and they are indeed flexible on WFH which helps. Salary is a bit below average for mid-size firms like mine in my area, and I didn't get a raise or bonus this year because I didn't hit the billable target (1900). Ideally I'd keep my salary but go to 1600 hours.

What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.
