I am a SM. Get off that project if you don’t get a charge code get yourself in a billable role. That is ridiculous.

like

You can’t be rolled off, because you were never rolled on. You are turning down a billable role to stay in a non-billable position. Unless this is a high profile initiative and you have top cover from the LCSP and your Service Line Leader, it sounds like you are being taken advantage of.

likeuplifting

If you aren’t charging a client code...you aren’t charging. Roll off or use the other project as leverage to start charging.

like

Only works in the SM and partner's favor for their metrics. The firm is losing money bc they aren't getting paid for your hours.

like

What you are being asked to do is a direct violation of firm policy AND Federal law. If DCAA caught wind of this, that SM and the firm would be in trouble.

Report his ass immediately. If you do not, the firm can fire YOU for knowingly violating policy.

like

This is bullshit. Speak to the project that needs you billable and let them step in. Do it in a political way

like

@pwc1 but from firm perspective, it seems to be their best interest to have people not charge a chargeable code but doing a full time client work, so senior manager gets better recognized

smart

Op- you will start to get nastigrams if you don’t charge hours. How are you going to justify that? You’re doomed if you’re in advisory

like

Just no, that’s ridiculous

uplifting

As a CoS, this is unacceptable and you need to take the roll that gives you utilization. Working on client work and NOT getting any type of utilization is wrong and unfair.

like

incorrect charging is a no no, escalate it. have a chat with talent or compliance.

like

FYI the senior manager wants to keep me and basically have me charge the admin code . So my contribution is not being recognized as he said he can’t find people and have no budget .

Are you up for promotion this year? You’re hurting your util but basically being free labor and earning brownie points from the SM. If you like working with the SM then continue if not bounce pronto...

@deloitte1 but would leadership or resource manager raise any noise because I’m asking to be rolled off and cause issues ?

Is your current “role” giving you adjusted utilization? Bc that is fine. No utilization at all is unacceptable if you are doing client work

Yes

Does the PPMD know? SM might sound like a high level, but they aren't able to defend your shitty utilization at year end. Do yourself a favor and tell the PPMD of the chargeable project your position if the SM doesn't want to let you go and see how long that SM lasts. I've seen partners cave when they really wanted a resource for an up coming project but the rea source was offered another role that was chargeable much sooner.

Op - escalate the issue immediately to your counselor and Talent. You should never be put in that situation and it’s counter to firm policy. The SM should know better

Escalate and get a more senior person make the call.

Haven’t worked at Deloitte, but assuming it’s similar to all other major consulting firms...Escalate to your counselor and also discuss with the new srmgr with the chargeable hours. Explain you’d prefer the new role and chargeable hours but being held to a non-chargeable role. He/she can help escalate for you to keep you from burning bridges. If the original srmgr gets upset with you for taking a chargeable role, I’d do my best to not work with that person again as they don’t have your best interest at heart.
