Yes. I’m 30. But I like what I do and no one else will pay me this much
29, close to 30 Associate. I find that hours ebb and flow depending on the quality of analysts you’re working with. The 90+ hour weeks suck when they happen, but the median is 60-70ish. This is a relatively simple job (the math is not rocket science like the hardos want to wear on their chest) and nothing else with my education and skill set would pay nearly as much, so thats what keeps me going on the all nighters. Nice little carrot on a stick that keeps getting bigger, but also further away haha
Haha what did we get ourselves into! :)
Going on 33 - will make VP end of year this year. I do tech IB - an industry i’m passionate about. This helps. I used to do natural resources previously - an industry i thought i was passionate about - this didn’t help. After doing this job as an analyst and associate (i started late), I’m now good at the job - which means i like the job. It’s not about the math, but what story or message do the numbers communicate. Comp is healthy - don’t think any other industry will pay what i get now. The tricky thing is long hour work weeks - i try to manage around these by ensuring my teams are fully staffed up with multiple analysts / capable interns if required + delegation + scope and timeline management.
Ok
It do be like that.
Quit if it doesn’t suit you. Work with someone like this on my own team, and they frequently do not pull their own weight
