Doing my first weekly rate gig, was told the hours scoped were for 40/week. I get the employment contract and don’t see any language about OT or 40/hr cap on what’s considered ‘a week’. I had stipulated OT as anything over 40 hours in my first email convos but she never acknowledged just negotiated the weekly rate. It’s permalance with a good agency I want the gig. Should I go back and ask to add a 40/hr cap and OT to the contract?

Yep. Usually there’s a “schedule” at the end that says all that. I do it all the time if they missed things, just be matter of fact it shouldn’t be a big deal to them.

Yes for sure. It was smart of you to bring it up, so it should definitely be in the contract if there is a physical contract. They might drag their feet, so Id recommend using your emails as “having it in writing” as well. Say something semi-explicit like “okay well, as long as these emails back and forth say that Ill get overtime over 40 hours, I can always show someone later if any problems come up, correct?” (Smiley face) But get an actual agreement one way or the other.
