It’s probably fine, but without knowing your income and savings rates, it’s hard to provide a useful answer. Are you making $65k and spending every nickel you have after taxes and rent? Then that’s bad. If you make $200k and are saving $5000/mo on top of 401k, then you’re doing great.

Living in the NYC area as well. 1.4k sounds about right.
Groceries: 300
Eating out: 300
Bills (internet, phone, utilities, etc.): 200
Drinks: 150
Travel/Uber: 100
Everyday stuff (shampoo, lotion, etc): 100
The rest sometimes go to travel, clothes, amazon. 1.4k really doesn't go that far
I live alone too but I budget with my partner in mind. I asked a similar question a couple weeks ago for a duo household specifically for groceries, eating out, toiletries, personal care.

It looks like your 1.4k is about average
