The best time to interview is when you already have a job.
So, if you’re interested in the other roles and companies, go for it.
Prepare your resume, research the company(s) and practice for the interview.
I was feeling FOMO too but I recently got promoted so I’m going to stick around for a little longer.
Try interviewing. You will know how much preparation you really need. Worst that would happen is that you do not get selected and you stay is your current role. If you do get an offer, you can then decide if you want to switch or not.
👆 You can interview without commitment - there is nothing wrong with looking around and getting back into interviewing prep. I’ve failed at a few phone screens, spent a little time realizing how I’m positioning myself on calls, and reshaped my resume/portfolio to have a better shot.
This past month I turned down a great offer (culture wasn’t a great fit for remote), and might be accepting another one later this week. If someone randomly hit me up I would’ve not been prepared a few months ago, now I’m not concerned about selling myself.
If anything, take time to seriously consider what’s important to you - learning skills, remote WLB, benefits, etc. It can quickly help you determine if a recruiter call is worth your time.

I will attest to this that switching job isn’t easy as it sounds like. It takes a lot of prep work and interview practice but getting a bite for an interview been much easier. Here are some data:
Dell- final interview (no offer)
Expedia- final interview (no offer)
Amazon- final interview (offer)
Meta- final interview (pending)
LinkedIn- HM interview (rejected)
Salesforce- recruiter interview (I rejected the call)
Apple- ghosted after recruiter call
Indeed- declined interview
Ex-Citi markets here - curious to know in which part of the business you are in?
FYI Asking because I’m considering going back to Citi (strategy role maybe?) as a step to move to a FAANG. I’m currently in a tech startup but surprisingly I found it way easier to interview at FAANG when I was at Citi compared to now.
Nice - used to be in the same group! Good luck with move to FAANG if you go for it!
What would it take for you to leave your current company? What title, salary, growth opportunities, benefits, etc. could a company offer to convince you to switch? Once you have a clear idea of what an ideal situation would look like, consider whether any of the positions recruiters are pushing could offer you that. If so, take the interview!
Curious if anyone has more insight about the predicted recession and what that could mean for job security..
So I did have a question around this as well. Recession predicted with 38% probability by Fed for the next two years.
Question: if these roles are opened up after an economic event (Covid, so these roles weren’t as immediate and necessary in Covid) what are the changes these roles will survive a recession ? (Though it’s only predicted and no one knows the severity )
Be prepared to work your ass off for FAANG life. Really depends what you want in life as a lot of people eventually leave FAANG for start ups or smaller companies. Not always a forever thing which people tend to leave out. Just a thought.
For interview prep you can start this now which is building your career stories to apply to behavioral interviews. Having at least 20 stories is a great start, put them in star format. You can later alter per company values/role specific research. Don’t forget to track your failures as well, risk is great in tech so failures with lessons learned speaks volumes. Also gaining familiarity with hypothetical interviews which are the worse but unavoidable.
I love to hear it 🙌🏽 Yeah sometimes we need a season of life where we can’t introduce any more chaos so I always forewarn people to be mindful of when they’d want to start and work backwards from there. Also once you apply you can schedule interviews weeks out which would also give you the time you need. Best of luck!
Thanks all for the responses, I do see benefit in attempting to interview which will tell how much I might have to prepare incase I didn’t get the offer.
50% of the roles are definitely the ones I would consider. The Faang roles they reached out are definitely ones I see myself switching to next which is why I want to be prepared as I may loose out to Interview with them for another couple of months if I fail

FOMO is getting to me. I love my job and I am have potential to grow. However I get at atleast 4 to 5 emails and LinkedIn messages from recruiters. If FAANG companies are you in your radar I’d say give it a shot
