Client service! The client probably gets a sense of control over you so this way they can bill you out at a higher rate.

If you're not spending that on-site time building relationships with your client then you won't survive very long in this business...

like

If your senior is at the client, then you should be too. Staff 1 need babysitters most of the time. Besides if you're at the client you can get to know them before you start sending a bunch of requests out.

Mileage

if you havent already, talk to your manager or higher and see how you can get more involved and how you can take advantage of being on client site

Like rsm1 said..building relationships, networking and marketing yourself. These clients you're on now you will one day be the lead senior/manager etc. Not this particular client maybe but you have to look in the broad scope of things. If your goal is to move to industry what better way then networking with current clients?

All about face time and perception.

You guys are also forgetting the most important reason...the firm has to pay for real estate if you are at the office. Client site = less overhead

Can u elaborate, PwC2?

This is funny because outside of audit and big 4, we avoid client sites except for face time and deliveries because the office is infinitely more efficient. @OP, PwC 2 is saying they don't have to pay for your cube if you're out at a client because they're paying.

I've never understood the "Facetime" and "building relationships" thing. Maybe it's just my experience/clients but almost all contacts seem like they would rather do anything but talk to their auditor.

Clients can easily ignore your emails and calls. They can't ignore you standing at their desk. Also, for bigger clients with the bigger fees, they generally like you on site since it's more efficient and they can ask you questions whenever. That's why we have an audit room year round.

Help. My supervisor and I work closely together on our project. Partner and SM have told us directly they want me more visible, to build a brand with client, etc. But when I raise my hand to take things on (drive meetings, sub initiatives etc), manager refuses to give up any of the “higher visibility” work so that, in his words, he does not risk himself falling out of the spotlight, he wants to be the “go to”. It’s not that I am not capable (lots of great feedback from him and Partner/SM) -

Fellow consultants, I’m struggling and I know complaining about this will only make me look weak but I need to vent. I’ve been working upwards of 60 hours a week since January and I’m tired. If I was doing meaningful work, it would be one thing but most of my days are spent supporting my client with fire drills that end up not mattering. He’s very reactionary and trying to guide him to hold off or think of other approaches doesn’t work. (Cont).

The long and the short of it. I was laid off a couple of months ago, the clients on the account I ran loved me. Can I hit the client up about freelance? I have two contract offers: One is about Data Management/Quality project for 6 months, the pay is 5000£ per month, the other is product data scientist for an early stage startup based in San Francisco for 4 months, the pay is a lot lot less (less than 1000£ per month). Tbh, I am not a big fan of data management, and I totally see myself doing product analytics which is becoming a hot skill in DS field. Is it stupid to turn down the first offer and accept the second one? I would love some advice

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!

Moms, I am 14 weeks pregnant and I went through a lot of anxiety and depression during my first trimester. This has impacted my relationship with my husband and especially my in-laws. When I am anxious, I need space. But my in-laws wanted to support me by coming over or inviting me over. All that was too much for me. So anytime I was at their place, I would literally just hide in one of the rooms with the lights off. My nausea was so bad that I was having a hard time even thinking straight.
