Yes. However, research shows that avoiding dopamine just makes us crave it more, which defeats the purpose.
What works for me is to find an alternate, more sustainable source of dopamine.
So for example, a few times a week, I’ll get something I really enjoy eating, put the phone out of reach and out of sight, and just spend an hour slowly eating my lunch. Really focusing on enjoying the food.
My lunch gives me a healthy boost of dopamine, and I don’t crave phone time as much afterwards.
As with all things health-related, this works for me, but may not work for others.
I really like this approach
Take acid and climb under your bed during early hours of the morning with a box on your head, earplugs in. Don’t let the stringy things get in your mouth or you’ll have a bad time. Don’t come out until you’ve had an revelation
God I hope you actually do this
Take time to engage yourself in productive ways outside of media (I.e cooking, sports, etc are amazing for re-energizing work for me)
