Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

You haven’t lost anything – you only lock in the losses if you cash out now - always comes back!
I started investing in alcohol instead.
OP - please go see a therapist asap. Don’t do anything stupid to hurt yourself either. I’m in your same shoes, I realized a huge investment loss a couple months ago so I was in a dark place. But therapy helped a lot. Give it 2 months of therapy and you’ll get back to functional, trust me.

This is why I stopped trading options. Now I only deal in securities I could explain to my grandmother.

How much % is that of overall portfolio?
Stocks for play derivatives for play. Nothing wrong with getting into playing options if you like a certain setup but should be 5-10% of your portfolio max (money you can afford to lose)
Glass half full take is that you’ve already basically lost everything, so you get to start fresh and not really worry about what the market does. Go make some money!

That's gotta be like 3% of your portfolio if you work at Deloitte
It would help to talk to someone professionally after this kind of life event. Mean this in all seriousness. Good news is that it could be your greatest life lesson and opportunity to step up to turn this around. It won’t be easy, and if you’re serious about reflecting, you can use this to your advantage and overcome this seemingly incredulous mistake. Key is that it was a mistake that needs to be fleshed out and addressed now.

do you even buy puts, brah?
83% drop in your portfolio...wow some of you have insanely risky investment strategies.
I'm glad I stick to super diversified index funds and don't mess with stuff like derivatives.

Ouch
I'm down like... ~10% and using the market pullback to use up some of my liquidity.
Shit, sorry to hear that OP. Hopefully you're young and weren't banking on that for retirement.
Logics don’t seem to make sense anymore. Just hope things start improving from here.
It’s just money. You’ll be alright.

It’s a big set back but you’re young and relatively high income so just add new money to diversified funds and you’ll be alright
You should probably read up on investing 101. Seems like you were holding an unstable portfolio and ignoring the signs.
