DPW has made the Covid-19 vaccine mandatory for all U.S. offices. Anyone who doesn‘t have the vaccine will not be permitted to enter the premises. Can I please check how the other BigLaw firms are dealing with this? Don‘t want to start a political discussion, but this seems very intruisive to me.

Good. Some offices, including mine, have open floor plans for associates. If they expect me back there, I will not be sitting at my desk wearing a mask for 10 hours a day just because other people are too inconsiderate to get the vaccine.

A lot of mid and big law are doing it. Seyfarth, Cooley, Sheppard Mullin, Mintz, Ropes, Arent Fox, Akin Gump, Debevoise, Hogan Lovells, Norton Rose, Paul Weiss, Wilson Sonsini, Winston & Strawn. My firm just went this way too—and are not letting you join any firm hosted events if you aren’t vaccinated. GOOD. Many of the big tech companies are doing this too—Microsoft, Amazon, etc. More and more will follow suit. As they should.

Lol at people who call this intrusive like it’s the first vaccine mandate they’ve ever had to endure

I hope more follow!

Love it! They even deactivated building ID cards of the unvaccinated. Great job, DPW.

Next will be termination for not coming into the office 😂

Good. Don’t want a vaccine, whatever. But don’t come in person and infect others. Now that we know breakthrough infections are happening with Delta I think we are going to see this everywhere. Once upon a time you had to prove you had your polio vaccine. I don’t see how this is any different.

like

lol your law school also required you to be up to date on vaccinations or you couldn’t attend

like

Get a vaccine or go to another firm if this is too intrusive for you. It’s not that hard.

like

Lol. We all had to have a list of vaccines checked off for college or we weren’t allowed on campus. Like DTaP or whatever. Same thing.

Arnold & Porter is requiring vaccination. Just announced yesterday. For now, it’s only required if you want to come to the office but starting Sept 13 (formal office return date) it will be a job requirement.

like

Same with us (Boston V50), with an added annoyance that everyone in office must wear a mask even if vaccinated. Also requiring proof, and I get the sense compliance is low because the reminder emails are more frequent and more threatening by the day. I sent my proof in, but am now working more from home because the mask thing is just overkill (in my ignorant non-science background opinion).

likefunny

I can’t believe you would risk your kids’ health by going out anywhere if the location don’t have mask rules then. Perfectly good reason for your work to make accommodations for you to work from home. I comply with our requirements. Many do not.

likefunny

Jealous of all the firms requiring it!! Skadden is not -- we have to have proof of vaccine on file with HR to remove our mask, but you know that's not going to be checked or enforced. (But seriously, intrusive? You had to be vaxxed for all your school to date.)

like

I love this! Get vaccinated people!

DWT was one of the first firms to declare the vaccine as mandatory for return to office. I don’t think it’s political for employers to take steps to protect their employees.

FF is requiring it, deactivated keycards if you’re not able to prove it. Good. Ratlickers can stay home.

Can I ask what religious grounds would prevent getting a vaccine? i'm jewish, so genuinely curious.

I have a super extreme conservative Catholic colleague (I am also Catholic but liberal) and she won’t get it either, for unclear reasons but I think they are essentially political reasons. No one in my church has suggested the vaccine is an issue at all and all of the Catholics close to me have gotten it.

STB is requiring it too, as of 20 min ago...
