I started working for my company about 6 weeks ago and I was originally hired to work from a specific location closer to my home. I was told the 1st day of my employment that the location “is not ready yet” and that I would be working out of a temp location further from my home. It has been really inconvenient for me to say the very least and the remote option is unavailable to me until after the probation period which is 6 months. How should I approach having this conversation with my director?

Was tempted by the thought early last spring but decided against since there is more bad than good that could come out of drinking on the job.
Six beers a day? Honestly and truly this might be your call for help. I hope you choose to reach out and get it.
6 beers a day is a "very small amount" for you??? Careful on alcohol dependency there... that much would knock me over.
And you work at KPMG?
1. It’s spaced out hours apart for those of you saying 6 beers!!! By the time OP has the second round the first is pretty much gone.
2. I mean if you’re getting work done? 🤷♀️
3. It is a slippery slope. I gave up the booze last year. Best decision ever.
It's pretty tacky to go to church in the first place. Might as well get some strange while you're at it.
Wow some of these comments are so weird and judgmental.. drinking during the week is substance abuse? Some of the smartest/most successful/happiest people I know casually drink. Get a grip and grow up.

You are coping. Don’t try and justify it lol.
I’m not a professional on substance abuse but that sounds like a problem. Maybe try to cut out drinking any during the week, at least for a while to see if you can. If you can’t then maybe need to get some support. Personally I drink none during the week because I’d end up needing a nap and I just don’t like to make drinking a habit.
6 beers on a workday? What does your weekend look like?
This isn’t Sigma Epsilon anymore relax buddy

It sounds like you are trying to deal with working so many hours by drinking during the day. The drinking may be masking the unhappiness or stress that your job is causing.
6 beers is not normal drinking.
Would you do it in the office or client site? If not, it’s not appropriate for WFH. WFH is not a free for all. You should act the same way as if you are in the office or at the client.
Yeah - I’m not putting in pants. They’re lucky i put on pants to go into the office now.
During busy season, sometimes I'd have one beer with dinner around 8-9pm. Six beers every day is a lot, OP
Sounds like alcoholism to me

Alcoholism requires negative issues in an individual’s life caused by alcohol. It’s part of the definition. If someone is not facing issues in their life caused by alcohol, they cannot be an alcoholic. It’s literally part of the diagnostic criteria.
Only 10% of heavy drinkers are alcoholics. Someone who drinks this much regularly is at increased risk for health issues, but that’s a choice people can make. Just like smokers, people who don’t want to meet the recommendations for weekly exercise, and countless other things that we do that are bad for our bodies because we prefer it.
That sounds like addiction to me

No drinks till 5-6pm
In college that’s fine as a working adult it’s a little sad. Don’t drink while WFH you’ll get fat and lazy.
I’ve kept an ironclad rule since college to not drink on weekdays. On weekends, it was fair game and I’d be the one absolutely sh!tfaced, having the time of my life.
That rule has stuck with me and works wonders now as a ‘working adult’ (dislike this term 😂) even as I switched from drinking to weed.
I think the main issue you’ll need to address is the weekday drinking

Meh. It’s heavy drinking, yes, but that’s not the same thing as having a drinking problem or being an alcoholic. All alcoholics are heavy drinkers, but a very small percentage of heavy drinkers are alcoholics.
If it isn’t impacting your life, that’s fine. I’m a heavy drinker too. Aware of the risks, but it’s something I enjoy and I’ve made the decision that I’m fine with taking them on. People take all sorts of risks with their body all the time for things they enjoy. So long as you remain in control of your choices, don’t worry and don’t listen to those judging you here.
I would advise against drinking at lunch, though: that’s a quick way to get fired if you’re caught.

There are plenty of unhealthy things people do because they enjoy it, though. It’s something to consider, but it’s not the ultimate deciding factor for what to do in most peoples lives.
If OP is aware of the risks and is able to stop when things get out of hand and is otherwise not impacted negatively by the drinking, then there’s nothing wrong here. Heavy drinking is not alcoholism.
I think you’re good as long as the work is done and you get good reviews. Absolutely nothing wrong with the amount being 6 beers idk why all these people are acting like saints in these comments. I don’t see smokers catching slack for taking 6 cig breaks a day but hey maybe they can’t see that as an addiction but see drinking as one 🤷🏼♂️
“As long as the work is done.” Have you heard of high functioning alcoholism? Not trying to judge OP but this is serious. If you know any alcoholics it’s not something to mess with. And if this post had anything to do with smoke breaks you might see them get some slack?
I think most people jumping to alcoholism might be rash, but maybe not. My fiancé is a recovering heroin addict who couldn’t go a day without using during the workday. So I’m probably more sensitive than others on using substances during work. But...at most it’s probably not a healthy lifestyle choice. 6 beers everyday for a long time will take a toll on your health, your body, your mind. A new study came out about alcohol causing grey brain matter to decrease/decreased brain function over time. I would be careful and not make this a regular thing.-
