This made me laugh in light of the Supreme Court decision. Hopefully this I’ll give you a laugh and a break from all the sad shit that has been happening lately. It is so weird receiving positive news in 2020. https://www.instagram.com/p/CBd1vdAHWCkjsK9kSaynWBKGOQMQFAQeD5SEj40/?igshid=11g5zey9ctx1d

Hi everyone, I thought this might be of interest to some of you in the UK: if you're curious about joining a union for the creative communications sector, the creative comms workers are co-hosting an open event together with design and cultural workers (both organising under the UVW union) https://mailchi.mp/f6f0a89c1151/big-announcement?e=42015b6647 The event is on the 2nd of Feb between 7-8 pm GMT on Zoom. You don't need to be an existing union member to join and freelancers are welcome!

Who actually has their August time in?
The last two employers I had I hated the work at first. In time, I grew to love both areas of law. Take this time to learn deep on the area you are in before you switch.
Also, pay attention to the firm culture. If you find the firm is great but the area isn’t for you, see if you can handle some cases in another area to get yourself some variety. A firm that you like working in is hard to find.
On the one hand, you have an understandable reason to be looking soon, you took a position after losing a job due to Covid, that is through no fault of your own, and out of necessity. On the other, long term, the partners who consider you next time around (if your next stop isn’t your last) will see you as jumping firms. Fair or not, firms are investing in you, and want and expect commitment to the firm.
I’d give it at least a year
Exact same situation here. Curious to see what others say.
If you can get a job elsewhere in a practice area you’re interested in, I wouldn’t hesitate to leave. I don’t think future employers are going to judge a weird looking 2020 on your resume.
What marker are you guys in?
