Dumbest thing you’ve had to do for a partner?

The head of my group tasked me to translate a 150 slides deck from French to English because I was the only French guy in the group.
He told me that the deck was important to him and that it would help him prepare for an important meeting.
I used the translate button in MS PPT...

I had no idea there was a translate button

My partner shared that his wife was fine with him sleeping with other women when he traveled, upon me not jumping on the hint he had me go with him to a brothel (we traveled outside the US) where he picked up an escort and we taxied back to our hotel. They couldn’t communicate so were using google translate to negotiate. It was so awkward. I went back to my room and didn’t ask the next day how it went. On another trip he got me to go to a strip club with him and that was a bit awkward too. Very strange evenings. Not even totally sure what to think of them

Haha that’s so funny.

Not me, but I heard about an Analyst who had to read a slide deck out over the phone while PPMD was driving.

PPMD was on the way to a meeting and didn't know what was in the deck they were presenting.

I do this regularly

I had to call IT pretending to be the partner (when I’m female and he’s male) to log into my partner’s client laptop, which he didn’t know the password to because he tasked the summer intern, who left, with making the password and security questions. Ended up having to say I was his secretary and had another male consultant speak to IT while whispering to him what to say

It definitely is. But in this industry, whatever the partners says, goes 🤷‍♀️ What are you gonna do, tell them you’re going to report them? Think you’re asking to get fired at that point

I had to completely re-plan a large team meal/celebration two days out brcause the partner decided to go keto and it was at a brewery..

Guys, it was at a brewery.

Pretend to like them and want to be around them

Don't know if he/she 'made you' do that or you just did it yourself to please him/her

Do his client mandated training using his ID and PWD

You would be surprised, but I agree. In which case, you should take it upon your self to follow up the request with an email asking a generic question about the training like when do you need me to complete yoyr client training by? Or something that would get a response :)

Change one word in the header of a slide

Order their wife flowers

I love you Elizabeth

Back when I was in interning at a hedge fund, my first assignment was finding out which were the cheapest uniforms for a name partner’s yacht crew.

Had to be their "work wife" for over a year.

agree D25- alarmed at all these folks here assuming I have gained professional favors owing to the relationship

Transpose a table in Excel.

For a backup slide.

At 3am.

Yes, I was asleep. Yes, he called until I picked up

This is why I sleep with my phone turned off or on silent. 🙄

Go to a division three college girls basketball game to support his daughter and then finish a deliverable by midnight.

Don't disrespect D3 or it's on 🤣😄

Pick up wife at home to take her to the opera house where I kept her company until he arrived from the airport about 20 mins before the show ended.

Pick up his dry cleaning. (He gave me cash and I kept the change a service fee.)

I'd hold that over his head if he stepped out of line. It's a kind of low-level servitude.

Had a couple good ones at my previous firm:

- Go to the local office and search for an iPhone dongle from IT because she was too cheap to buy one for $5 at CVS across the street (took me an hour to find one)

- Call ahead to multiple lunch places to find her a meal that was whole 30 compliant. Then have me pick it up, only to look at it in disgust when I give it to her because she thought it had sriracha on one of the veggies

I left the firm while on her project and never heard goodbye, thank you, or a response to my departure email lol...was a dark time

My last director never responded to my departure either. Not a goodbye, thank you, nothing.

Don’t be one of those people.

I once spent the better part of 4 hours driving around a tiny rural town looking for 6 different 24-piece puzzles because the partner thought the 36-piece puzzles I’d purchased ahead of time were “too difficult” for a 10min exercise with company leaders.

Wrap their Christmas presents for gifts they were giving internally

Had to check the mailbox multiple times in a five-minute duration because I wasn’t trusted when I said item ‘xyz’ was not present the first time. LOLOLOL

Are there any recommendations on books on parenting? Not something entirely based on a western worldview but something that is a general guide to new parents - inculcating good values, morals, routines etc.

This👇 is a job post I saw today. Until overwork & stress stop being glamorized & some b.s. masochistic belief that anyone can “thrive” in this environment, this industry will continue to destroy us

Went through some difficult interviews. So hard that I was not sure what I was doing. Tried my best but still feeling kinda down… just want a hug please 😞

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

Ladies, I’m cross posting this hoping I get some recommendations here. I’m looking for a virtual game to play with my nephew I cannot go and see due to international travel restrictions. Is there something we can do over video conf calls or something? He is 6yo and we get along very well. I want to spend more time with him over weekends & do something fun virtually. He loves spy kids & puzzles or any mystery sort of games so something along those lines? Ready to invest $$ even if they’re pricey.

Anyone thinking about puts for Beyond Meat, options market showing an implied move in stock price of ~15%

I cleared the managerial round in citiustech.
And I was told that I am selected and had hr policy discussion call on 17-nov-21.

In that call it was told that I will get hr salary discussion call by 17th or maximum by 18th.
But I didn't recieved any.

Has something like this happened to anyone.
How much time it took between managerial round and offer letter release. Any idea guys

Anyone looking for a chief business officer role? Early stage scientific startup (with moderate funding runway) looking for a go getter to build financial projections and help source / pitch investors. Out of Harvard, patented IP, regular winner of start up competitions, Mass accelerator finalist.

Why are people so caught up in job title? Literally people have turned down jobs paying 2x their salary because job title is lower. Who cares!!!

Looking to open a credit card with points/rewards. Thinking of the chase sapphire reserve. Worth it? What kind of cards do you recommend?
