During that time of the month I get cramps that are so debilitating my body breaks out in hives from the pain & I double over. It’s miserable. Anyone else have this? What do you say to your boss?

Talk to your doctor

Endometriosis does not necessarily cause constant pain. Every woman in my family has it(including me) and it mostly flares up around our periods and occasionally at ovulation. Everyone’s different but just letting you know it is common and can be intermittent.

As far as boss/client goes, usually just discuss with my client if I need an afternoon of sick time. Rarely take the whole day. If you have a good relationship with them then usually goes okay. Keep track of it for your own record and theirs, make up the hours at another time if you feel obliged. Don’t usually my tell my boss unless I’m certain I will be out for more than a day, we have unlimited sick time so I don’t think they care unless it gets out of hand or the client is upset

Yeah for me it’s mostly dependent on my schedule with boss or client. If I had a 1-1 with my boss I think I would be comfortable telling him I can’t attend bc I’m sick. But if it were a huge client presentation I may mention to them that I’m under the weather but still present, or see if they offer to move it but not explicitly request it

Sorry to hear you are suffering like this. My doctor gave me muscle relaxers with those plus midol I’m able to get through the day, mentally I’m miserable but physically I’m numb. Now that we are wfh I use heating pads as well. Also, I noticed if I work out 3-4 per week my body handles cramps way better.

Thank you, really appreciate the kind words. Unfortunately even when I use a heating pad I still am in so much pain it sometimes doesn’t feel like I’ll make it through. Will definitely ask my doctor about the muscle relaxers!

Hey! Yes, i have not had the hives but had the debilitating pain before. I would ask to be remote. My boss did not care as long as I got my work done. If you are client facing I would definitely see a doctor because it might be tough to be remote or out once every month. For me, my pain got worse and worse. It would only last 2-3 days but those days were awful. Went to an OBGYN because no one else I knew had periods get to this point. Turns out I had a major fertility issue. Went to a specialist had a minor laparoscopic procedure and was back to work 2 weeks later. Boss was totally cool the whole time. Havent had cramps like that ever again. It’s been 2.5 years. Laparoscopic procedure is the same technique they use for exploratory surgery. You are discharged the same day. If you have talked to your doc before and they didn’t listen (typical) - push more. Go in and say - I have tried heating pads, exercise, etc. and the pain is still a 10. Ask to get an ultrasound to check for cysts. Don’t let them bully you or invalidate your claims. You know yourself and your pain. It’s within your rights to ask for help.

Yes I had / have massive fibroids. I don’t say anything to my boss(es). Generally I say an urgent meeting came up or ask them if I can get them something EOD instead of morning etc.

Can I get some advice from the “been there done that” OGs? Is leaving consulting just before 2YOE and promo to industry (lower prestige) or another consulting firm (boutiques of lower prestige) advisable for long term career or is it too soon? Have several opportunities at $110-120k and I make 80k now expecting around 90k at promo. Thanks!

Anyone got insight on tempo fit? I am in the final round interview. There’s not much information online about their culture and company.

If I have already signed an offer for an internship and sign another one that takes place before the first one. Should I notify the first bank about this? Since we only have a contract for that specific time period I think it’s not relevant but wanted to ask here anyway.

I'm planning on leaving my current company soon. I'm a little concerned that if I put in my two weeks they will fire me. What notice would you give? I'm not currently responsible for any big projects that would leave them hanging.

Hi! I am moving to Austin in another month or so and I am looking for apartments/locations to rent currently. My office is located in the downtown area so looking for apartments closer to that area. I am familiar with the Rainey street area but am looking for reviews about this part of town. Appreciate any help. TIA

I spent 8+ years in agency new biz and increasingly felt like a cog in the capitalism wheel, working long hours for causes I didn’t really believe in. Although I enjoyed the thrill and collaboration, I was deeply missing the connection to purpose. So through a series of moves (AMA 👍), I now lead marketing for a sustainable forestry NGO. It is a huge relief. And now I’m looking to hire a marketing manager! Perhaps one of you is interested in a similar switch? Long shot, but more info is below.

Fellow Fishers , I posted this on consulting bowl and surprisingly got no feedback but hoping some of the leaders on this forum have a point of view. What do You think of PWC oracle practice relative to Deloitte or Accenture or even players like HCL for example?
