During the initial screening call the recruiter asked me for salary expectations I said it was too early to tell. I asked them to share a range & they did. Now that I’ve finished interviewing they’ve followed up & asked me again about salary expectations. I replied with a range between 5-10%>the high end of their range based on market research & my experience exceeding their requirements. I’m concerned the hiring manager will discard me b/c my counter was higher. Thoughts?

Had an interview with Hexaware and 3 days back HR1 called me and said she will send the offer letter next week. 2 days back HR2 called me and said a client interview is scheduled for you and I attended that. Now if I fail to clear the client interview round, will I not receive the offer letter that is promised by the HR1?

A recruiter presented an offer at X salary plus benefits. When they offered the job I accepted via email with x salary + benefits. I had to wait a week for the official offer letter to come from the company. I’m a web developer and I’ve been with the same company for 14 years. I’m making $45,000 a year. I’ve asked for a significant raise several times as my work load has only been increasing. I get 1% raises and that’s all. Not sure if I should just go freelance at this point or keep pushing for more and hope it works out. If you’re a web developer, please share your salary! When requesting a raise, has an employer ever asked you for the cost of living? As an example- asking you to list out a future mortgage payment if you purchase a home, the cost of health insurance for your family, etc. Seems intrusive and weird. Raises should based on value, not what a mortgage costs…. but maybe it’s common.

To preface, I have taken on a lot more responsibility/positions and I am wanting nothing less that 20.5% of an increase. Is that too much? With it being a fairly high ask, it’s it better to actually mention it in the letter?

How do you handle when you get offered a surprise raise but it’s lower than what you would have asked for yourself? I wouldn’t want to come off ungrateful but I also don’t want to accept less than my value. I have had this happen to me many years ago and I didn’t negotiate. A happy moment became a bit of a let down.

Could I accept the other now with the condition that there’s another evaluation 6 months from now or during the actual performance review season?
