My air wrap has been life changing. If you’re looking for styling and drying I would go for that. But if you just want something that can dry hair super quickly maybe the supersonic is better for you.
Unpopular opinion: the airwrap is not worth it
Pros:
- dries hair well
- hair looks 🔥 (but only for like an hour)
- less heat damage
Cons:
- hair falls flat QUICK. I've tried everything. Wet hair, damp hair, dry hair, mousse, no mousse, texturing spray, no spray. FYI this is very common for a lot of users
- if your hair is past your shoulders, you need to buy the extra long barrels (seems odd given that most people that buy this have longer hair)
- takes longer to fully dry than of you were to just blow dry it
- realistically, you probably won't be using all of the attachments. Wish they allowed you to pick and choose
- overpriced
Overall, not worth the price tag. Full disclosure, I do use it every time I wash my hair, I just wish I went with the supersonic hair drier instead.
Exactly!
Plus if you wanted to, you can get the same effect with a thick curling wand/iron. Except this method would actually hold the blow out look for days instead.
I got the supersonic and it’s pretty great! my hair dries pretty fast as it is, so I had been thinking I should probably should have gotten the air wrap because it’s weaker dryer would have been sufficient plus I’d get more styling features. However, I found a supersonic attachment that looks like the air wrap. It’s en route from China so tbd if it’ll work. The supersonic flyaway attachment is also pretty good.
I believe a new model of Airwrap is coming out this summer

Depends on your hair. Both are great for different things/styles.

Love my air wrap!
I have both and haven’t touched my supersonic since I got the airwrap. If you don’t usually curl your hair you can also look into something like the drybar double shot at a lower price point
Airwrap!
Have you used the supersonic before?
Airwrap. My hair is thick and still dries quickly even from nearly soaking wet.
However- they’ve announced the next generation of airwrap is coming (I think in summer) with long barrels and more attachments. If you’re willing to pay more, wait for it, otherwise the original airwrap may be cheaper then.
Yes, at my salon and my sisters.
I have both and I love both. It depends on skilled you are at a blowout - if you are good at roundbrushing go with the dryer. If you have little to no skills and/or like all the different attachments go with the air wrap. I use the air wrap 80% of the time and the rest is the dryer. I hope that helps!
