Went to a local dive bar yesterday, only heard one language but I got two burgers, chips, and a pitcher of beer for $9 (before tip) then went home to my 2 floor apartment that costs me $600 a month. Times like that makes me feel like having more cows than humans for neighbors is worth it
I’ll be damned. Has to be a money loss lol

Paying more for housing so you can eat at a place and not understand a word around u? Seems odd
Ah so the post is a humble brag
I mean... you could find this in a more affordable Atlanta/Dallas too.
If you travel to neighborhoods of New York you are likely to meet tons of people that have never left the country. Actually you will find a lot that never even left NYC there whole life
Yea. I’m a New York native and you’re not special. Just because you grew up in some zip code no ones ever heard of and now you live in Manhattan means nothing. You’re a visitor.
“Native” NYs gatekeeping who is a NY or not is so cringe. Bless his heart when he realizes how cringy it is.
You are different OP
It’s nice. :)
Very few places have the same amount of culture and diversity as NYC does.

It’s luxury rent or kids, can’t have both unless you’re an executive or commute from Jersey shore 🤣
All same language - is hard to make out words filtering through covid coughs. 'Murrican sounds diverse when accompanied by different types of coughs.
murrican, what the hell does that mean?
Well I just went out to dinner in Charlotte and at each table around me there was a different color polo shirt worn
Idk why theres so much hate. I completely agree with this feeling. Op, ignore the cynical criticism from doubtful consultants

I LOVE IT!! I’ve been living in NYC for a long time specifically because of the mix of cultures. Sitting at a bar, in a park, anywhere you can start a random conversation typically results in a great experience getting to know someone from a different part of the world or country.
It's a beautiful vibe, experienced the same thing when I moved out to DC last fall.. diplomats and socialites abound
Rent is the only thing more costly. Everything else is about flat AND you have public transit removing the need for a car. HCOL is overpaid.
Haha you're so cultured...
I can get the same effect with takeout and a zoom call
