I have an interview for a TPM role that I didn't technically apply to (my resume got passed along). I work in a technical environment but dont have a technical background. Do I actually have a real shot??
How technical are TPM roles? I know how to talk to technical people but not make technical decisions myself. Amazon Project Kuiper.

An endless cycle, every damn campaign. Any advice?
Damn, I feel this one. This was the ECD at my old agency, just an eternal cycle of pre-clienting shit. What are we even doing giving them shit they could think of themselves?
Fuck, if that ain’t the truth! Damn!!
Maybe talk to ECD about it. Why do you keep asking for edgy ideas if you can’t sell them in? Maybe don’t be so blunt about it. Everyone wants that shit even when their clients don’t have an appetite for them. Is ECD and account pushing against the client enough? Are the ideas dying because they’re afraid or because of some business concern the client has? Ultimately, if the team is not willing to even put the groundbreaking work in front of the client and not willing to change then it’s a big enough problem to consider leaving. Respectfully let them know you’re here for the work, not just to make client happy. And keep looking for those great ideas that are edgy AND make the client tons of money.
Change your preso setups. Make it a rule to present your ideas and then include one “crazy idea that we know is our there but we thought you might enjoy seeing just for fun." Your clients will get braver and your ECD won’t have an excuse for holding back
Ha ha ha. So true. It seems the people who really make it in this biz learn how to brush the bullshit off and keep moving. And there's a lot of bullshit. Never stop pushing but make sure to look around you to make sure you're working with the right people.
