Accepted a l5 consultant level offer from Google recently. This was 1 level down from the other position I started interviewing for before it went on hold. I do feel a bit down leveled and a compromise on comp as I didn't have competing offers from other fang.
I see another role open, probably at l6 for lead consultant, same location (austin)Austin. Is it OK to go back to recruiter and ask for this role/position? Google

Hi, I received the below offer for L65 Principal Program Manager (non tech) at Microsoft in Atlanta. I have 12 YOE in strategy consulting. Can somebody with experience with MS please advise if this is good or lowball? The recruiter mentioned that this is max for Atlanta and anything else will require an “exception” process. I don’t think I want to risk losing the offer. Thanks!!

Typically with the larger corporations, you get what you get. The attitude is you’re easily replaceable, so threatening to get a better job (or actually getting one) is pretty much just met with a “good luck!” attitude. When I worked for Aetna/CVS they actually handed out 1.5% raises and acted like that was sooo gracious of them.
My job just gave us 3% (which is 30 dollars per pay check) and made it look like it was “merit based” and favor to us. What a joke 😂
Emblemhealth pays LMSW 80K-100k
LCSW are usually paid higher! With remote access.
What sort of stress levels come with that position? That is great pay! I would be worried about being overworked.
LCSWs in our region are highly desirable.
I wouldn't take the brinkmanship's approach and threaten to leave, but I think you should counter with a request for a discussion about your compensation if it lower than for your industry and experience, regardless the size of the raise. Be prepared to present the contributions you bring to the organization and your level of productivity to support your discussion.
I work at Elevance Health too. One year I got 5% merit increase. I did not ask for it or try to negotiate a higher increase. Boss told me it’s one of the few things she has control over since she couldn’t promote me. 5 months later she promoted me and I got a $10k increase. I’m at E14.
Never be afraid to ask for more but always be prepared to justify why you deserve it. Any company that wants to cut bait on an ask isn’t a company you want work for. I don’t know your specific market, but up here in MN I’ve had LCSWs make quite a bit more than that and in the low to mid $80k range.
