Can’t speak for every firm but most partners at my firm in exec comp have been there 20 years and most associates started out as summer associates and never left and will make partner soon, literally no one ever leaves or gets fired, they stay forever lol

Hi All, I got a offer at BNP Paribas Chennai, 21 Lakhs, my current CTC IS 15 lakhs fixed, here we don't have any bonus. BNP is saying they have bonus component on top of CTC. I'm ok to relocate to Chennai from Hyderabad. Not how would be the hikes and bonuses BNP Paribas.

Just wanted to put it out there that no one is perfect. I'm going on 13 years with my significant other. I'm 25 years old. While our story isn't the typical one, we've had two breaks in between. I’m a first year and fucked up big time. The client doesn’t know about this but a senior associate was furious. I know it’s 100% my fault but no one above me actually reviewed my work bc everyone was so busy. But then I found out the senior gave a rant about how I fucked up to another colleague. When I apologized to him, he was really salty. Since then, my heart drops every time I see his email bc I’m too scared. He is usually pretty emotional and his instructions are vague, which doesn’t help.

How do you not feel guilty when protecting your work-life balance? I am annualizing about 200 hours over my billable requirement and accept new work when asked 99% of the time, but yet I feel guilty leaving the office at 4pm to do family stuff after billing a full day and being on track for all of my projects. Please help.

Tips for bankruptcy associates who eventually want to move in-house? 3rd year associate in bankruptcy/restructuring group doing mainly bk lit but a few deals too. Need to stay in BL for at least another year for the money, but eventually want to move in-house. The path to in-house seems more straightforward for general commercial lit or more standard transactional practices. Any tips for someone who’s practice is a bit of a hybrid (and who will never likely do discovery or handle a depo)

Are partner promotion votes generally unanimous? Like if you pissed off some random partner in a different office or practice on something not so major and they hold a grudge, and they vote against you, how does that usually work? Assuming of course you had the support of the partners in your own group. I know this is firm dependent to an extent.
