Glad you started the thread. I’m worried it’s too hyped up in my head and I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t feel 100% as magical as I expect it to.

Thanks for sharing. I’m in the same boat. It always seems so magical and overwhelming and wondering if that’s the standard
I always was worried I wouldn’t be super excited when he proposed and that meant I didn’t really love him. When it finally happened last year, we were already pregnant (blame covid and our age 🤷🏻♀️) and I knew it was happening Bc he had told me the ring was looted from the jewelry store it was being shipped from during the BLM riots last summer. You can’t make this stuff up.
He asked if we wanted to go to the roof, but the rooftop was crowded, then asked to go on a walk (he hates all these things so I knew it was happening that night). He kept saying- let’s go here, let’s go there, bc there were a ton of people outdoors and he wanted it to be more private.
Finally- we are looking out at the river, I knew he was just killing time, I turn to my left and he is standing with the ring box.
He says nothing.
I ask him if he has a question for me.
He kneels down and says- “let’s do this.”
And I was like - do you want to try again?
Then I just started laughing. I’m still not sure if we’re engaged, bc I’m not sure I was ever asked and if I ever said yes.
Hahaha - we are married though (less than 2 weeks after that- again, blame covid), and have a beautiful baby boy!
So...don’t put pressure on yourself - any proposal is memorable in its own way, and not necessarily the dream you see in the movies!
If you want to be together, you will!

Rising Star
My fiancé had planned a series of trips last spring and had planned to propose on one of them but COVID happened and literally everything was canceled. He ended up proposing on a trip under the stars (i.e., so dark out I could barely see his face) and it was awesome. I was completely surprised, it was a moment we shared entirely on our own, and about 3 mins after he proposed I burst out crying because I was so happy. I think you’ll be surprised how you react. It’s weird, you have all these expectations but I think so much of that comes from the idea that eyes will be on you. I honestly would’ve felt so weird if he’d proposed in a restaurant or around a bunch of people. I don’t think I would’ve had as genuine a reaction.
Mine was pretty awkward bc I didn't know what was going on. He ws trying to get me to stand up to look at something but I had the dog on my lap. Eventually he came an leaned over and blurted out will you marry me! Then we both got really hot and red haha. I stood up, we hugged a bunch. So not necessarily perfect but still lots of emotion!
