Enter puts on all the potential tiktok acquirers for sept 18. Only one of the players will win the deal, while the other three will likely drop 5-10% in stock price. One option may expire worthless, but you win on the other three. Thoughts?

IV likely going to crush you. Unless moves are larger than that. Or if you buy perfectly right before the announcement is made to minimize theta burn.

Yeah, just floAting the idea. I don’t think i have strong enough conviction to go through with it

I have msft and wmt calls, most likely to win the deal

Seriously, saying the “race has tightened” between MSFT and ORCL is like a paraplegic falling forward in a race against Usain Bolt

I don’t think the stocks in question have run up enough to cover the premiums on a potential basket of puts. Interesting idea, but you’d have to do some work to figure out of it has a chance of paying off.

like

Lol why will MSFT go down 10% if they don’t win it? MSFT is worth like $1.5T? Tik Tok isn’t valued at $150B. And that implies that MSFT would get Tik Tok for free. Theoretically, and I know this is a controversial stance in today’s market, but paying fair value for acquiring a company means your stock price should only go up by the synergies gained.

Not really a question, but maybe I’ll hit FIRE early since of the roughly ~20 or so stocks i keep in my portfolio, 3 of them were a substantial GME position I entered in September (and exited in the midst of the craze thankfully), RKT (expecting mortgage lenders to do well in the buying craze) and L Brands 😳. Never thought I’d hit 3x

How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.

If I've maxed out my TFSA, should I continue investing through an RRSP or a personal investment account?

For context, I also have a good pension. My main concern is that while the RRSP will be nice to lower my taxable income now, I'm worried when I retire I'll have to withdraw too much from both the RRSP and pension. Thoughts?

The need to pay bills seems to be the only thing keeping me going. Any advice??? Plzzz

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
