Book recommendations for new executives?
Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

Executive assistants should have good communication skills at a minimum
Nope. Not looking to be an executive assistant.
If your looking at Exec assistant, someone else has covered that a bit.
Assuming your looking at enterprise architecture, look for frameworks that are not based on IT (ie TOGAF). FEAC, DODAF, ZACHMAN are the ones to study. I've done togaf and engage daily with true senior ent archs. Remember it's about architecting the enterprise, nor architecting IT systems for the business. First is the goal, second is seriously messed up. I've been doing IT architecture for over a decade and have been studying the differences.
Network with ent archs that talk about business topics other than it. Learn business architecture (Not togaf version) as a good starting point.
D1 that you are correct. The title and role don't match as people have jostled for better title to get more money but trying to do less. Sadly IT is great at creating this confusion in the marketplace.
I also want to know more about this topic. I’m currently enrolled in a uni course on EA which is ok but it seems like it’s few openings for EA so not much to go on in terms of requirements.
Learn about kubernetes and go deep into messaging patterns. Study authentication approaches. Go wide in terms of enterprise tools and be conversant in SAP, IBM, Microsoft, AWS, Salesforce, etc product offerings.
TOGAF Framework & Cert is a good place to start. Google that.
A1 - your suggestion is a bit too tactical. The approach to Enterprise Architecture is larger than specific technologies.
Perhaps, but I don’t think you’d be a great enterprise architect without my recommendation. 👨🏼💻
Architecture is tough because it requires a lot of breadth and depth of knowledge. Study up on non functional quality attributes and the trade offs of different patterns and tech stacks. For example AWS promotes the PIE theorem as a substitute to the CAP theorem for thinking about tradeoffs in your persistence layer. You need to know about deployment patterns, application frameworks, integration patterns, etc.
