Regardless of what people think of them, mark pollard and Julian cole are great resources for those looking to break into strategy. They demystify the process which as you already see is full of hidden codes and norms. Advertising is its own beast that prides itself on being different from the professional world, you have to learn the ropes to make it in.

If anyone is thinking about going on flex time, I would highly recommend it. It might not work for everyone, but my experience has been a positive one. I took a 20% pay cut along with 20% reduced hours. I am able to support my family with that income and my firm respects my limited hours, but I still need to plan to make sure I can complete tasks in my reduced hours too. Anyways, if you like what you do, but don’t like the long hours and can take a pay cut, I would do it.

My co-worker is so resentful and competitive because I was promoted over her last year which caused a demotion on her end. People in the company still go to her for things that should be for me but she rarely corrects them. Shes still involved in the company too in a way that allows her to know secrets that I should know about but never do. I technically am above her within the company but this is how things are. I just do my job and try to not let it bother me but it does. Any suggestions?

I think we can all agree EQUALITY (in all aspects including racism) should be a goal of all humans - or for the sake of argument let's assume. What are some ways to sell that idea just how we have done with brands/products/services in the past?

Who would be our target audience and user personas? How would we talk with them? What would the conversion funnel look like? What questions would you ask to put together a strategy which includes metrics to identify our performance.

I keep getting rejected branding agencies for roles despite having freelanced at some amazing places and done positioning work there or at ad agencies. My sense is that they only want people who have worked at Interbrand, Superunion, Futurebrand, etc & aren’t open up outsiders. Is that right? Am I doing something wrong? Should I even be chasing these agencies? I feel like it’s a constant uphill battle and I’m losing the strength to keep going.
