Any vacancies in CFR for the role of an analyst? A modeling role or a strategy role would do. I had referred some candidates but the position was filled till then. Is there any way I could get a notification as soon as a new relevant job is posted? This is for opportunities in Gurgaon/Bglr

^ That’s just WRONG!
12-15 yrs from entry level to EP. Any duration shorter than this you are not doing yourself any favors. You simply won’t have the skills and contacts to be effective or build a lasting career. If being a Producer is just a fun vanity job before you switch to another industry then moving up faster won’t matter because you aren’t interested in sticking around past 30
It’s possible to go from Junior to EP in 5 years
Trump also happened. Doesn’t mean it’s right.
I had a bit of an odd path. I never had a junior role. I spent two years at mid-level, then 8 years at the senior level. Been an EP for a year now.
Intern for 3 months, associate producer at production company for 1 year and got promoted then laid off but told by employer to go after producer roles, took a coordinator role for a hot second, then producer for 3-ish years... I didn’t really care for a senior producer title since i was already leading large scale productions, I just want the salary raises. Now I freelance and life is better... a producer is a producer.
It depends on experience you receive while in each role, company, opps for growth, leadership, but I’d say 2-4 yrs per level.
I was never a junior or AP. Started mid-level coming in with several years of random client side marketing experience. Stayed at my first small agency for a year and took a lateral move to a larger agency for a decent salary increase. Stayed there for about 2.5 years and moved again for a senior role. Held that for almost 5 years and then moved again for an EP title.
I think for most AP for up to 2 years, mid for 3-5, senior for 4-6 is somewhat the norm. Basically you will need at least 10-12 years if not closer to 15 before you can expect to be an EP.
Creative assistant 1 yr, associate producer 2 years, producer 3 years, senior producer 5 years. Not interested in EP for awhile. It ruins the ability to market myself...
Firstly - we need to kill that "junior" shit. I've made everyone "Associate Producers" carries a bit more respect when talking to reps, production companies, acct folks - etc.
Secondly
AP - 3 years
Producer 3-5
SR. Producer - 5+ or until you conquer another medium. EPs should be medium agnostic, if you ask me.
It happened
I didn’t but the producer did
Also - titles are funny. Switching mediums I've made some weird jumps :
Mid level Print Producer to Sr PP down Jr
Digital produxer to mid Digital to Integrated EP.
Go figure. It's really what you can do and "years-as-producer" mixed with budgets and complexities handled.
