My new employer won't match any 401k contributions until 12 months after hire. Where should I direct money if I am trying to balance taxes paid. Unfortunately, I won't get any tax benefits from contributing to a traditional IRA due to exceeding income limits for claiming tax deductions. I thought about I bonds, getting ahead on my mortgage, maxing out Roth IRA, anything else I should be considering?
I’m considering joining Prudential as an Advisor. Give me the good, the bad, the ugly in your opinion… Thanks!
Anyone here know anything about job opportunities/career paths on the LP side? Currently in VC but potentially interested in moving to an endowment, foundation, SWF, or pension plan
Hello 🔥 🐠 - Happy new year!. We have around $15k to invest & planning to buy Index funds (VFIAX, FXAIX) over next 2 weeks. We chose index funds to have recurring weekly investments ($200- $300) for next 18-20 years. Any suggestions on this funds list or any better strategy to invest. Note that we have 6 months emergency fund in HYSA, Contributing in full to traditional 401k, Roth IRA. HSA is not an option because of first new born child. Goal is to fund child’s education from this investment.
Reviewed returns on my Roth 401k and it has matched S&P 500 over the time it has been invested since start date in Nov 2014,is this “good ROI”? Using company’s management firm at 0.6% fee rate.
US expats living in London, what proportion of your salary do you put into pension vs investing directly? Would like to start growing wealth, however I am finding tax rules quite complicated / limiting outside of the pensions wrapper. For reference, planning to stay in the UK long term, late 20s, TC ~ £65k.
I recently joined Microsoft and the 401k investments options through Fidelity are a bit limited. I am 31 and may be in a lower tax bracket than today's (24%) in the future. Which funds would be more beneficial? VFFSX? LIVIX?
I can’t really tell anyone else this, but shoutout to me for maxing out my 401k for the year with today’s paycheck 🥳
Getting laid off in January and trying to figure out what to do with my 401k. I’m applying to grad school, and thus may not roll over to a new employers 401k. Have about 80k in the account. Considering converting to a Roth IRA instead of rolling over to an IRA. Thoughts/advice?
Guys, I am 41, SO 38, with 2 kids. My NW including 401k and house and mortgage is 1.4M. I think I am behind a lot. What you all think???
Does it make sense to max out 401k and/or 401k Roth when on H1B with no certainty of staying here for a long time?
Is withdrawing 401k public charge?
How does this group feel about a company that does not offer a 401k match? One of my friends has an offer that does not have 401k and I think she shouldn’t take it. She can still contribute but the company will not match anything. Thoughts?
Partner Question: If your top line monthly distribution is $100k, how much are you actually earning after taxes, medical, 401k etc.? I’d imagine the big 4 firms have fairly complicated state tax structures but curious if there’s a benchmark you use to think about it
I am a first year associate that maxed out my Roth IRA for last year (2020) and recently contributed the limit this year in hopes of having cash on hand in case we see a pull back. I just completed my goal for my emergency savings as well. I have contributed 5% to a Roth 401k since I started in mid March. Currently, I just plan to increase my normal savings while investing in crypto and my individual investment account until I am able to contribute to my IRA. Would this be the best strategy?
Expecting to put in my notice early next year after bonuses hit for an in-house job. Is there a list of to-do items I should do (e.g., transfer 401k, save training materials, etc.)
Looking to hear from folks here.. Thinking of reallocating some of my 401K funds from 2045 target fund to tech ETF with high growth. Given the decline tech sector experienced, I think it may be a good idea... Curious to hear your thoughts!
When checking to see if you are able to execute a Mega Back Door Roth IRA contribution, do you flat out ask your 401k plan admin if they allow MBD? Or do you ask if they allow after tax contributions, in-service withdrawals…
Looking to buy first home soon. Has anyone ever used part of their 401k for the down payment? What are the rules on using 401k for first time home buyers? Or is it a bad idea in general?
Have $34k debt and $23k in stocks apart from 401k. Want to get to 0 debt and save for home down payment (6 months roadmap). Thoughts on how I can get there ? 33 yo fem. TIA!!!

My wife is giving birth in a few months to our first child. Should I take the full 16 weeks? Four months seems like an extremely long time. What about utilization and bonus? Getting replaced in projects and initiatives?

I have been in tech consulting for most of career and have been in different roles - sales, bd, project mgmt, recruiter, people manager, delivery manager, strategy and ops, and a few more. I am still not sure what I really like to do.. and not really sure how to figure this out. I have been changing roles every few years and now want to pick one that I can stay on in the long term. I also think about starting something of my own..In early 40s. Has anyone been successful in figuring this out?
