Maybe it's a test to see how pretentious you are.
For the non-Europeans among us...what’s second class like? I mean if it’s a wooden plank for people to sit on with a bucket in the corner for...emergencies, then I see your point. But if we’re talking same seats but different upholstery...then why is it a big deal?
In some countries 1st class seating is 1-2 while second class is 2-2 abreast. Also: different seat pitch
What's wrong with second class?
More important question: was it an ICE and how late was it?
Which country? Train travel is quite common for project work in BeNeLux and DACH... usually also faster than flying
DACH. I’m not complaining about the travel itself, rather that this firm did what I would call a cheap move by booking 2nd class. Especially for an interview.
I’m in the DACH region and train travel is common. Our internal policy is 1st class for all train travel, so while I don’t think two hours is unreasonable, I do think they should have booked you first class. (Was it us? I hope it wasn’t us!)
Wasn’t you, don’t worry. But it was in DACH.
Let us know if you decide to turn up or ghost them 😂
Internal consulting (e.g. SMC) may travel 2nd class to align with the business.
And probably some small niche firms.
