Guys what is with the negative comments, not necessary!
I feel like that sometimes. Came in as an experienced hire used to managing a big team, with a prior executive role (in smaller company). Am learning about different things but don’t want to be a partner and not seeing the exit opps. Feels like I took a big step down sometimes tbh.
Brevity due to not having space to type. Should probably say “i feel like there is no way out”
I have been engaging with my leadership and networking in my acct. We lost work and I am trying to actively roll on to another project but the acct doesn’t have much right now.
D1 I just don’t think I want it badly enough to put in what’s required to get there. I hear the politics on getting elected and beyond are pretty intense and that’s a big turn off for me too (and makes it unlikely I’d get there anyway).
Why no way out?
Yeah, no way out? Sounds like it might be an attitude issue. If there are no opportunities at Booz and you have all that experience, a lateral move might be best for you. Unless you're overselling your experience to make a point here but don't have enough to apply for another job.
Mck- just curious why don’t you want to be partner
Same boat OP. Following
1) Keep looking for opportunities to do something new, even within your current project. If you’re always there for the presentation, ask to do part of it or make valuable contributions. You need to demonstrate that you can do more instead of just waiting to be given something. 2) Find training in a useful skill and take it! Use that to network to a new role elsewhere. 3) Have ongoing conversations with your leadership about how you can contribute more. If you keep asking, they should help find opportunities.
5years is nothing, sound like another entitled millennial
Keep trying to roll off to another project! I've been able to do that multiple times in my career here and as long as you have a reasonable admin team, you should be able to make it happen within a couple of months if not sooner.
Keep networking and looking at all the open jobs on workday and you should be able to find something. But I agree that it doesn't hurt to look at external options as well.
