There’s no point, it’s completely selfish behavior and evidence you’ve done the right thing.
Had a previous manager tell me she thought I was making a mistake in leaving. That there were a lot of opportunities at my old company. Reached out to me a few months later asking for a referral to my new company...
They’re probably envious. Who cares, congrats!
SC OP, realize that your decision triggers their ego as you are essentially, in their mind, invalidating their life decision by leaving. It has little to nothing to do with you. Those who try support you and are not ego triggered will be disappointed to lose a good worker and friend but will be happy that you are making the move you think is best for you. Don't worry about those who cannot get past their own life experience. Thank everyone for their support and leave gracefully. Those that are smart will realize that although today you're leaving for a competitor, tomorrow you may come back or be a potential client or start your own amazing company and will also act with grace. Good luck.
Depends. Could be a bad manager, could just be frustration. I have always been supportive of the career choices for the people who work for me. Nobody stays in one place forever
Reacting badly - if you mean just frustrated, that’s normal but a good/great manager will immediately pivot to see you’re moving on to your next challenge (mostly a good thing- either cos you need a change in scene, project mix, leadership, politics), that’s how business works.
It’s the nature of the industry..idk what he/she is expecting..I would recommend you keep calm and stay cool, don’t burn any bridges from your side
I had the same experience when I left my previous firm.
One of my mentors reached out and told me that I made a mistake
I had that happen. Spoke with my mentor to understand their point of view given they are part of my Board of Directors. Ended up staying, but when things didn’t pan out (gave it a year) he asked me if he should make some introductions outside the firm.
PS My last employee didn’t even acknowledge my resignation for a week - which I had sent to 3 people! Also confirmation!
My old partner told me the needs and demands of my clients in the big four would far exceed the demands of my clients now and I couldn’t handle it. Also was shunned by my entire department when I gave my
Notice and not one person spoke to me for three weeks
The only words that really matter on your business card is your name.
You take it and all of your skills with you everywhere you go. Companies could care little for you and will forget you moments after you leave or underperform in any way.
Yes. I think it’s God’s way of reconfirming I made the right decision!
Yes!!! I had a manager get down right vicious, making up lies about be to former colleagues, sending nasty emails to my new work email address... he was friggen nuts. Made me so happy to be gone
Yea neither did I... should have blocked him but I didn’t realize I was leaving on bad terms. They made me a counter offer!!! The nasty started after I declined it!
