Exactly! This is a little controversial but it happens. Growth and excellence should go both ways.

True. You are a good employee until you speak up and take a stand. Lol

You have got that right. Currently dealing with this in my current role.

Looking to pivot from biotech to big tech in a less technical role (bizops, analytics, implementation manager) . I have a degree from Stanford in Biology (c/o 2021) and experience leading technical client implantations, but feel like companies just see my degree isn’t finance/CS/ statistics, and throw out my application. Am I overthinking? And what certifications have you seen help boost a person’s resume?

How important is it to nab referrals to jobs that you are applying to? I know some people in tech that say it’s really important to land the first round, but is it the same in business? Also re: recruiter DMs/emails, do you have an advantage in the interview process if you are reached out to, or is it just something they do on a mass scale during hiring frenzies?

Hi Fishes,

I recently got an offer from Sparta Systems-Honeywell Company. The project is in Salesforce trackwise. How good is it for QA to go into Salesforce considering Automation and learning and growth.. Please suggest..

I got an offer and the company stated that the background check would ask for my employment history. However, the third party background check company (Sterling) only requested for my SSN, DOB, and address history for the two screens they sent so far.

Will they be sending more for me to fill out?

Does anyone have any advice on passing the PHR the first time around?

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?

I’ve been with company for a little over 3 years as a Talent Acquisition Specialist. There’s been recent changes within Leadership that has caused everyone to leave, except myself. My workload has increased and I’ve taken on a bulk of the work as we rebuild our team. All recent hires on my team, same role as me, has been receiving a much higher salary. Of course the market has changed since I’ve been here however, the newbies are reaping the benefits of it. How should I request for a raise?

Offer accepted! Before I start, I will virtually meet my direct reports I didn't meet during interviews. My new managers will also be there. I've managed people before, ~2 years ago, so I'll be rusty, but I love helping others achieve their goals. Previous roles were promotions & I hired my repots. What would be good topics/questions for this initial meeting with everyone? There's no agenda set, but I'd like to be intentional. I'm sure my mgrs will lead, but I want to be thoughtful. Thanks.

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

There’s no such thing as a perfect job.

I know there are definitely worse out there so it’s hard to put my foot down and resign, I could just stick it out for a year but am feeling demotivated and too exhausted to do anything else but sleep after hours/weekends. Have you ever started working somewhere and although nothing overtly wrong or terrible about the place / colleagues, it just didn’t feel like the right fit & if so, what did you do?
