Definitely crazy. I’m mostly remote and my manager and I have a catch up call once a week. He knows what my job entails and that I’m getting it done - no need for a daily list.
Rising Star
Micromanager! I’d ask them (nicely) why they need you to have such a detailed agenda and what you could do to start phasing it out. If that doesn’t work, then definitely leave.
Your boss is crazy, there’s no respect or trust there. You gotta get out
I haven't. You're right, I should definitely try and start a conversation to see if there's any reasoning behind the behavior.
Crazy
To be fair I did do something similar to a staff that was under performing and I was trying to manage out. Even at that I only asked for a recap write up once a week.
Your boss is a psycho
Ya he's crazy. You don't need to be micro managed. Get out
When remote…we have a live Zoom that runs from 7am to 6pm…video on.
That's actually HORRIFYING. You make me feel like I don't have it that bad after all!
This is like the episode of the office where Jan makes Pam record what work Michael does
I'm a huge office fan and I also love that episode. Seriously impressive how little Michael gets done, lol.
Do you include the time it takes to write up the ridiculous itinerary everyday?
LOL this is a brilliant idea!
Crazy
Crazy. Without a doubt
I’ve never experienced this at a single bulge bracket in 10 years. Should note that I have always been in non-financial/compliance risk management roles going between front office and middle, but it seems like your manager likes to micro manage or has some trust issues. Playing devil’s advocate to myself, is your team very operational (e.g, needs to report tasks completed and reviewed in a day but lacks a system)? Or could this be a directive from their manager? In the end, if that information is not being used beyond their own personal needs, that would drive me to at least look for a spot on another team.
Run away fast! That’s absolutely nuts. Things change during the course of a day, so,etchings taken loner than expected, some less. This is micromanaging to,an extreme. Get out as fast as you can.
He has too much time on his hands. Can’t expect most people to stay with the company
Tell him a CRM will solve his micro management issues
It sounds like your boss lacks faith in you which tells me that they’re bad at their job and taking it out on you. Time to skeedaddle!!
If it helps, my boss ambushed me with an 'investigation' to include HR, in which IT records for the times I'd logged in every morning for the past 6 months were pulled up.
They then had the audacity to say in our BAU 1:1 today that "the quality of my work is very good"...?
Naturally, I've begun looking elsewhere.
You need to get out lol
Yeah lol. I would start forgetting once a week then twice a week…
