A couple of things come to mind: it is possible that the person putting the bag in the overhead bin may have a legit reason doing that: they may be in an exit row seat with no seat in front of them, might be in a United aisle seat that fits nothing in front of them or they may have checked in their carryon so they can have more space by putting their one item in the overhead bin. No one is entitled to overhead bin space; it is first come first served. Moving a fellow traveler’s bag to a random bin without asking because you think your bag should go there is something I personally consider rude and entitled. I feel that the person that moves a bag without asking so they can store theirs is as obnoxious as the person that puts both their items in the overhead bin without a legit reason.
D1, first I was exaggerating it’s more like moving it to the bin over where there is plenty room. Otherwise the entire line gets held up when people are silent when you ask “hey who has the small bag up here and is there a way it can go under a seat”? I’m clearly not walking across the aisle.
Second, policy on bin space is absolutely for 1 large bag. Not 2 bags. Not “first come and you can put your purse and suitcase up”. Many people don’t follow that policy and when flight attendants see, they do correct it. Also, I am well aware of exit row and front row policies, I’m referring to situations where someone is not following the policy.
Finally, I do this for other passengers not just me. It is far from an entitled thing. It’s a matter of efficiency and following protocols designed to be most efficient
This is why I bought the largest backpack I could find, it really ticks people off to see a backpack in the overhead, it ticks them off more when they realize it'll never fit under a seat.
If your flying every Thursday how do you not have status? Boarding early solves for you good luck to all who follow. Also If I check my roller you better believe I’m putting my backpack up. It’s all about the leg room
Private jet is not a bad idea after all
Basically, putting a small bag or grocery bag up when it can go under your seat for minor inconvenience at the expense of people waiting in line and others checking bags unnecessarily is much more entitled...no?
SC1, I time my airport arrival to get there just as boarding starts so I’m to the gate 5 minutes before door closes. Early boarding doesn’t help.
If you don’t miss 5% of your flights, you’re spending too much time in airports
I'd love to see this "policy" you are referencing and how you'd enforce it. I'm pretty sure there is no size restriction for the overhead bins. Good luck figuring out luggage pairs. 😂
What if they have a larger bag that still fits under their seat and a smaller one to put up in the bin?
^1 and 1 and that’s even nicer. If that’s ur style C1 😍
Agree with BCG1 to a point. Also I am usually rushing right out of a meeting to get to the airport. Don’t always have time to board with my group
