This is a payment question. freelance, 1099, corp-to-corp, etc. The creative agency insists that everyone has to be on payroll. Is this because it’s a creative role and not production? Anyone?

Was recently turned down for a position because I did a good job of talking about reporting and workflows, but couldn’t articulate how I helped drive business KPIs, come up with a new way to look at an audience or business situation which changed, or had a huge impact on planning.
Any advice for my next interview? I would be interested to hear others work on that would have pleased the strategy/management team.

This has been bugging me for many weeks so I had to ask this: am I the only one to think the Q&A logo looks like Trump’s hair? I can’t be the only one. Maybe I’ve been in quarantine for too long

Just came to vent/have a pity party: I had a screener interview for my dream in-house job on Friday, but had to cancel it last minute because of a fire drill. They said they would get back to me about rescheduling but now I worry I shot myself in the foot and am mad at myself for not setting better boundaries…hoping they are understanding since I’m in BL…
Are “stealth layoffs” happening across all practice groups or corporate only? I’m in real estate and have been very busy so not sure how laying off anyone would make sense for my group.
Has anyone tried Amberjack shoes? I need to get some new dress shoes after nearly 2 years without wearing them but regular dress shoes kill my feet now. I’ve heard good things about these being extremely comfortable.

So, it’s been two weeks since the last response from the HR recruiter (they said my resume and tests were shared with the team). Should I send an email? It’s normal that some process take this long, but I’m getting a little anxious.
Any Canadians out there working in the U.S.? Any of you have a good accountant in the U.S. that can handle the cross border stuff with your Canadian accountant? Got reamed last year (3k+ bill) for a relatively simple income structure. In Texas for reference.
Law schools in Toronto - I am currently working as a Senior Auditor at EY & finished my CPA modules in less than 12 months & successfully passed CFE, September 2021 (Fasttrack) while working full time. I am really interested in getting into a top law school here in Toronto but unfortunately I had a low CGPA (3.15) from undergrad due to some unfortunate incident, mostly impacted my grades. I strongly feel i can score 170+ on LSAT; question DO I EVEN STAND A CHANCE TO GET INTO ANY LAW SCHOOL
Thinking of joining a fund finance group as a junior. I know exit options are mostly limited to banks, but are there “exit” options within biglaw (i.e. other finance groups) that fund finance generally lends itself to? I’m in M&A now and don’t want to close too many doors.
Lateraling as a second year and very excited! The new firm is a much better cultural fit. I have accepted the offer and am waiting on conflicts.
Any dos and don’ts? Things you wish you would’ve done or known before lateraling? Anything you are glad you did?
Was asked to cover another colleague who was on AL for a week for a really shit deal, and could not get off the hook afterwards. Pulled an all-nighter this week as the associate said that way we can have our weekend. Fine, did that and kept my weekend plans expecting my weekend is really free. But Fri afternoon the partner basically said you need to work this weekend. Can’t really blame the associate but I’m really frustrated. Is this a fact of life that I need to accept? Can/should I say no?

How do you get more work during a slow period? My practice group is slow, so there’s very little work to go around. I’m planning to just email people for coffee, do pro Bono, and CLE. Anything I’m missing?
1st year associate in Texas. How/who do I ask to switch from litigation to transactional within my firm? I’ve been here for 6 weeks and billed a total of 10 hours. There appears to be a real lack of litigation work in general at the firm (and partners have told as much transparently) but they keep telling us to just wait and work will be coming. Is this lack of litigation work normal at other firms?
