Are there industry jobs that have the same flexibility we have in public accounting? I do whatever I want as far as my schedule so long as I get my work done. I feel like I can’t give this up but keep thinking the grass is greener in industry. Any advice?

Why do I keep doing this…many times I’ve told myself I would not drink anymore yet every Friday afternoon I find myself picking up a case of beer, like on autopilot. I used to limit it to just weekends, but now I find myself more and more drinking during the week…feeling miserable at work the next day, if I even make it to work. I don’t know what has to happen for me to finally realize I need to stop and actually follow through with it. Blacked out last night, feeling ashamed of myself.

Likely getting an offer soon - already have planned vacation starting Tuesday until the new year. Do I give notice before I get the written offer/background check so I can leave before holidays but risk offboarding during vacation or give notice my first day back? At a startup so not sure if they'd want me out asap (cash strapped) or expect me to stay 2 weeks. I dont care much about pay, more about optimizing my time before next job (burnt out)

I'm coming to a conclusion that 40 hours/week is not a good balance. Maybe for me. I left consulting only to go back to an MSP, but I am reaching burnout again. In the last few years, I came to the conclusion that working 32 hours/week would work a lot better for life balance. Is there any opportunities like this out there that include benefits?

London is a world class metropolitan city and so is the cost of livi.
But then why don't MAANG or other big techs pay as high for software managers and other leadership roles as they do in the USA, particularly California, Washington, New York. In fact for the same role, $ salaries are at least 3X higher to their counterparts roles here in London.
Definitely, London isn't 3X cheaper them.
Is it that companies don't want that high here or there isn't enough competition or something else?
