What are big firms like MBB / Big 4 doing to keep employees (especially junior level) engaged and motivated during COVID? In your opinion, is it working?
Just sent i485 for GC last week, any idea how long are the processing times with covid? I've been exahusted for some time now, and days are getting longer and harder but this has given me so hope.
Long shot, but has anyone used ManiMe? I used to get dip manicures twice a month but have stopped due to covid. I have tired to do my nails myself and it’s hilariously awful. I saw these as another option but am wondering if they actually last the full two weeks?
What are people doing about dog grooming during COVID-19? Not worried about a bath but his nails - I don’t trust myself to do that because his nails are black...so impossible to see the quick. 🤷🏽♀️
Is Evanston good college town? I haven’t been able to visit due to covid so curious if it has decent restaurants, bars, and shopping
I have had covid before (a year ago), female, and had my first moderna shot. I’m a little worried about taking my second shot cuz I’ve heard ppl who had high fever for a week straight. Since I’m high risk for having a bad adverse reaction to the second dose. Debating if I should still get it? I’m just really not looking forward to that 104 degree fever for a week straight.
What is wrong with this man? https://www.whitehousegiftshop.com/product-p/trump-defeats-covid.htm
If the government really wanted to end Covid they should’ve given contracts to popular US clothing brands like: Nike, Under Armor, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfinger, Calvin Klein, The North Face, etc. Point being, if these brands designed their own masks in bulk people would be more inclined to wear “their favorite brand” opposed to a surgical mask or no mask at all.
Sounds about right. Corrupt and disgusting. But not surprising. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/22/politics/rick-bright-barda-trump-coronavirus/index.html
Covid got me thinking - have any of you taken a significant pay cut (>20%) for a role that is more interesting and/or has better work-life balance? How did you think about it?
Gift idea for my mom who has been helping so much with baby? She’s not into designer items. Was thinking furniture or a new car when prices calm down but those can’t be surprises. She’s very covid conscious, or would love to take her on a nice spa day or vacation. No price limit.
A brief interruption from regularly scheduled ad / Covid related posts: can straight, single people of the opposite sex (or same sex if gay) be just friends after the age of 30 or so or is it just a precursor to getting together? I realize this is the premise of When Harry Met Sally but still going w/ this confession / question.
Soo I know this has been asked a million times, but since everything changes week to week, what are others in high COVID caseload areas doing for preschool/daycare? I’m more asking out of concern for my kid’s socialization—we are lucky to be able to afford a nanny. I feel so incredibly lost.
Took LOA last year, multiple months. Recovered from burnout driven by long hours during covid. But feel like I'm now experiencing burnout in a different form. Don't feel drained but I'm just unmotivated to do anything in life and work. I don't want to eat, exercise, go places, or work. I don't want another break from work, I want to keep doing things (eg not so drained I want to take months off) but this seems like burnout and I don't know what to do.
Hi Everyone, going to Philadelphia this weekend. Any friendly COVID friendly restaurants with outdoor patios, breweries, distilleries, and or things to do? Thank you for your insight!!
Was you H1B approval notice mailed to you ? Did you HAVE TO sign to receive the delivery ? Or was it left in your mailbox/door ?
Company has an employee stock purchase plan - can contribute up to 20% of paycheck for stock at a 20% discount. Can someome help me understand this? What is the typical required holding period? If I can sell this quickly isn't it a no brainer for an essential 4% bonus each paycheck (20% * 20%)? Edit: I am interviewing for the company so I don't have insights into specific company knowledge articles to look this up, just curious if how it generally works.
Looking to get a few certifications, I have worked in both IT and HR consulting and am trying to decide between ITIL, SHRM, and PMP. Any thoughts on which would be best for future, quickest to get, hardest test? I get the cert paid for and a bonus upon completion, so trying to decide which one to pursue or the order if I want multiple.
Do we have anyone here who has worked in all big 4 and can share cultural differences? Also, how it has helped increasing your base?
I need to get a pulse check on my sanity... i live in Michigan, and sports gambling has become legal in the past year. Now every other commercial is about sports gambling, sports announcers are making in game advertisements, I get hit with social media ads, so on and so forth. I’m not against sports gambling, but the constant promotion seems like “corporate America” is taking advantage of addictive human tendencies, and contributing to the perpetuation of wealth inequality in America.. am I nuts
This is a dumb question but I'm curious to know who makes the decision to invite EH applicants to interview? Is it HR eg for generalists or practice leads, in case of specialist applicants?
Hi! I’m majoring in IT & don’t know what I want to go into once I graduate. I’ve been set on getting an internship but it looks like I’m too late to land one for summer 2022 so I’m going to prepare for summer 2023. I’m anxious because I have no experience being 20 years old. I have 4-5 years of customer service experience but so does every student. What internships are more accepting of beginners? Project management, technical account Manager, Systems engineer maybe? Still learning the field.
Any foster moms out there? I’m curious if companies provide parental leave to support new fostering relationships? Have your companies been supportive of the time commitment during work hours?
I'm a little annoyed. there are sooo many Instagram accounts for moms-to-be, new moms but not a single account for dad-to-be or new dad's, the dad accounts I did find were all based on funny memes with kids. Not a single account with how to care for a baby or how to be a supportive pregnancy partner or parenting. This research basically started because my husband said he doesn't need to know all these things as it's a woman's role and lack of similar accounts men is proof that he doesn't need to
Is it possible to move from mid-law to big law? Currently doing civil litigation but trying to lateral. In an ideal world would love to do corporate, but would also take litigation. In San Diego for reference.
I recently joined Deloitte and while going through work productivity benefits I found out that Interns and contract hires are not eligible for reimbursement of furniture. How do I find whether I am a full time employee or contractual?? Ps: my offer letter did not mention any such thing as intern or contract
Can someone please explain what is considered an “industry” role? Is it strictly strategy or roles within your expertise? Is it difficult to match consulting pay with non-strategy roles in industry? What companies are considered good “exits”, any big name company? I’ve been in consulting for a few years, made it to Manager, have about 9 years of non-consulting experience prior to consulting. Want to take advantage of the promotion and have a better WLB for my family.
Are people dropping the Chase Sapphire Reserve? If so, what are you doing with the points (have 100k points and wondering if I should take the cashback and downgrade the card).
anyone here work at Crowe? got reached out for senior government consultant role and would love to hear more about it
Really struggling to get enough protein when striving for a relatively high-protein diet. Everyone relies so heavily on protein shakes and bars but when I consume too much at once I feel bloated and nauseous. Like I can’t get through half a protein shake before feeling ill, or half a protein bar. Has anyone else struggled in the same way? Are there certain products you found that were better than others in terms of digestibility… or do I just need to eat a bunch of chicken every day? 😂
