I think it means you care that you’re doing the best job you can.
Definitely needed this post. I just accepted a new job and am telling my company on Monday. I’ve been battling in my head if I’m making the right decision and mostly it’s because of the imposter syndrome. In my head, I’m like I should stay because I’ve made it 7+ years at my current company and they haven’t realized I’m not good...but the fear is that at this new job, they’ll figure this out right away! Ugh, hate the anxiety but glad to hear I’m not alone in this.
4 weeks into a new gig and also felt the same. But then I realized my new job tapped me for my expertise and the results I brought to my previous role. Just transfer that over!
Just about until the self-loathing kicks in.
Already there

my thoughts too ha
Up to 6 months, and then intermittently for the rest of ur career. But the frequency slows down dramatically, hang in there👍
I’m going through it right now too. It’s really hard, especially if you relocated. Don’t let it get you down. Try to remember that most of your new co-workers are rooting for you. It usually lasts me three months, and it only has gotten harder as I’ve gotten more senior. Feel free to DM me if you need someone to commiserate with.
Me too. And could not agree more about it being harder the more senior you get. Didn’t expect that. In some ways I’m more confident than ever, but in a new role it’s like the guy from men in black came in with that flashy thing. You feel me? Glad we’re all in this together.
I just stopped feeling the brunt of it and it’s been about 18 months. You kind of just have to wait for the stars to align. But when they do, awwww shiiiitttt am I right ladies

On the waitlist! Thanks for sharing
I hope it never goes away entirely. Those that lose the self-doubt are really the ones that drag us down as a team...
Hm that’s an interesting thought. You might be right !
Same here—really glad you posted this because it made me feel less alone. I also started a new job last month and I’ve felt imposter syndrome, low self esteem and just massive anxiety. But 3 months to 6 months is typical for a newbie to get acclimated (be patient with yourself!). And while it can go on for your whole career, it definitely subsides with tenure.
i’ve been at this 25 years. periods of self doubt come and go like the seasons.
it’s normal and healthy.
ask any comedian or writer or director. most of the really good ones still wonder if their last job was their last job.
Believe in yourself-you were hired cause you are great
two months for me, usually
About the same for me.
Sounds like the imposter syndrome. Could last a while.
Just started a new gig a month ago and feeling just like that. It sucks big time.
I needed this... just started my first job & the account is rebranding everything rn
Everything started to feel better for me at the 3 month mark... but I’ll admit, before that I was in a pretty constant state of anxiety and self-doubt... still have bad days but I promise you’ll feel a little bit better if you just stick with it!
I’m about 3 months into a new job starting after 9 months off after having a baby. New job and new baby = a car crash. So it could always be worse, you could be me 😂 😭
Absolutely. You have to write down all the great things you have done and look at it every time you feel bad about yourself
I got my first non-agency gig as a consultant and the self-doubt is blazing hot. Suddenly shifting my 20 years experience into a new environment where everything is foreign has created massive self doubt. Going on 2 months now.
