Everyone should openly share their salaries/wages with anyone who wants to know. It only helps other workers and is only bad for companies. Biggest company propaganda was getting the general public to think that’s it’s inappropriate to have salary transparency.

Okay. I’m all for transparency. But I’m also for education. What good does it do an audit person knowing how much an technology consultant person in advisory makes? Without education about why your salary is what it is will just lead to ramblings and unhappiness. 50% of people that are below the average are immediately unhappy and asking for a raise.

I mean sure but I know my manager has more/different responsibilities than I do but I'd like to know how much they make. I'm sure people can put together that different jobs or service lines command different salaries. Another part of is is just seeing how different- is there really that much difference between IT Audit and core audit (hypothetically of course, I'm not even sure how their salaries compare off the top of my head). It will help people plan career moves too- most people would know that X service line makes less, so if that isn't aligned to their career goals (which most people work to make money), then they wouldn't bother looking at a role

"It only helps other workers and is only bad for companies." It only helps average or poor workers as if everyone knew how much those who performed better than them made then they would ask for it and the company would say no. This would cause high performing workers to be told their increases are less as its public knowledge now
