Why don't you just volunteer in your community? Can make a lot more contribution to society in that way rather than chasing your ego and becoming the next whatever

^ why don't you, selfish!

Community volunteer vs entrepreneurs vs business leaders vs other successful people- what are you smoking? Capitalism and business drive a huge amount of community investment

I sit on a small small not for profit board that receives 99% of its donations from 5 businesses and 1% from 300 individuals so D1 for the win.

Curious about career options for a PhD who loves business 🤔

Feeling lost about what to do career-wise… I have a PhD in polymer science and engineering.

Pivoted to tech writing after my postdoc bc I wanted to see if I could make my online business my FT gig & felt excited about the company I’m currently working at

I have to relocate due to my partner finding a job, so thought I’d use this time for a career pivot. I ❤️ running my biz, but it was too much w/ a 9-5.

Any ideas for a career?

Right now, I do criminal and domestic law. I'm seriously burned out. I'm looking at corporate and other litigation positions. A lot of them are related to contract work (as in reviewing, preparing, etc.). For anyone that has switched from criminal/domestic litigation to other litigation or corporate positions, how much of your previous knowledge and skill set transferred over? I'm a fast learner and want to show I'm more than an entry-level hire.

I am interviewing for Benefits Specialist positions currently. What do you say when a hiring manager or recruiter asks what you made in your last position? On top of that I have been asked what my salary range is for the position I am interested in. This is during the initial phone interview. I expect the company to tell me the range for the position. I have found they are asking range before they tell me the range. I have done research for market rate and answer with the range I researched.

I’ve been trying to find the right antidepressants for me, but it’s been a terrible journey. I’m constantly either feeling bad side effects when on the drugs or a bad funk when off (headache, lethargy, anxiety, nausea). I’m starting to notice a lot of mistakes I made when my mind was in a haze and am concerned how to deal with finding the right medication but also not destroying my career bc of the side effects. Any suggestions? Is this something I tell my firm about? If so, how?

Has any firm in Canada reverted back from salary freezes during Covid? Aka gone back to pre-COVID salary bands. This question may be more for the strategy shops....I.e. I heard S& in the US is giving people raises in January to meet pre-COVID bands (but don’t know if this is happening in PwC). What are people seeing in Canada?

Say we do an conference event and sell tickets that include meals for the attendees. Is that meal (as part of the ticket) a COGS or the like? Would that count as a supply item?

My thought is that while it’s a meal for someone it’s not a meal for those doing the acts of business/business expense.

This would be under a non-profit.

Looking for your opinions! I am currently interviewing to get out of public. I have a very nice, helpful senior manager asking if I will be able to help him out with a project in Q1 2022. Of course I will respond to the email saying I’m happy to help, but I want to give him a heads up via call or ping that I might not be at the firm at that time anymore, so idk if you want to bank that time on me. Should I do this since the communication would be via company software?
