If I’m understanding your question, there should be two separate upgrade lists that you can view in the app. One will be for premium economy, and the other for business. It depends on whether United has updated systems. For some of the domestic routes where United flies the three class 767 planes, this is what they do.
C1. I’m on the 787-10 for the flight and I thought I read somewhere that UA doesn’t do free upgrades for the transcontinental flights aka (ewr - sfo/lax)
Oh yes, you’re right. I’ve done this flight a few times. It’s a United “p.s.” route so no complementary upgrades. There’s always the option of a instantly confirmed cash upgrade, or to play the waitlist game with the miles upgrade, as long as there’s not a ridiculous co-pay. The amount you would have to pay depends on the fair class that you booked and economy. If you’re on a Y, B, M, E, or U fare class, the upgrade would probably be somewhere between $200 and $700. Conversely, if you are on a K or a G fare class, for example, it is likely to be cost prohibitive.
Ah. Ok let’s see as it gets closer to the departure time. Will be fun if I can upgrade once in a while to treat myself.
You should be able to self-upgrade to economy plus at check in using the app or kiosk to change your seat. That gets you more room and a meal on the EWR-LAX flight.
Oh I upgraded to E+ not an issue I’m Plat status but I did EWR - DFW and EWR - ORD last year. Wanted to know if there was any chance of a CPU on such a huge plane. But Seeing as it’s a PS I have learned for sure they E+ is the best I’ll get unless I’m willing to part with some miles or $$
