I’m AA and can definitely say we lower the bar to meet equality numbers in consulting.
EY1, noted. I’m used to speaking in US Census data. Also - typo - intended “Black-and-other minorities” 🫡
Which I guess is along the lines of not calling women “females.”
Note I said “Black professionals.”
OP, you should really stop advertising the Black Consultants bowl using links unless you intended for the audience to be able to see every conversation ever had on the bowl.
The conversations are moot points if anyone can comment while you’re only looking for a specific race.
I am the bowl owner. I did not think the join link enabled auto joining. I will reach out to fishbowl.
“I’m already starting behind the rest…” I wish I could eradicate this victim mentality. We’ve essentially told black people that they can’t do it on their own with all the recent focus on needing to lower the bar for race which is toxic. There are plenty of exceptional black people out there doing amazing things. We should make sure we give these people equal opportunity and celebrate that success vs assuming they all need a handout.

I hate this “lowering the bar”. I’m black and I agree completely. If these companies want more qualified poc why aren’t they investing more into college recruiting efforts geared at poc rather than just say college is optional?
