If we have a prolonged recession because COVID lingers much longer than we had hoped, won’t the consulting be kind of fucked for the next 1-2 years? Like no travel benefits whatsoever, long hours, no learning from being at client, limited project opportunities for most industries, always worrying about utilization, layoffs, etc.
My intern was assigned the role of “strategist” on an intern-project and they asked me “Wait, so I just have think about stuff, I don’t actually have to DO anything??”
For newly minted EM/PLs, have you ever taken up a project with a high risky outcome preferably suited for Second year EMs, but comes up with a chance to build a strong brand for yourself. Feelings?
In a tough spot. Recently joined a company and I regret it. I left consulting for better wlb but I’m now working the same amount. I am interviewing for a role within a university which sounds more easy going. If I leave my current company, I’d have to pay back my sign on bonus (5k). But I just feel so stressed out all the time and was recently diagnosed with depression & had to go on medication (already in therapy). I don’t know what to do. Do I stick it out? Do I continue to interview?
Was offered a job at a public university in another state to do communications, wondering if this means it’s unlikely I will be laid off/furloughed. Is that something I should even ask? Currently at an agency in a safe role (or so I’ve been told) and don’t want to leave for something less stable
Been in consulting for 6 yrs. Wanted to travel since I was single. Stayed on local projects for all 6 yrs. 3 months into a steady relationship, I get on a traveling project. ACN troll lvl: 👹👹👹👹👹
How many days should I wait before I reach out to the recruiter to see what the thoughts of hiring team are?

“It just stresses me out-having ALL women on this project. It’s not even a gender thing. It just... if anything it‘d be MORE sexist to keep the team “as-is” simply BECAUSE you’re all women, you know?"
External data thread 💽🌐 Do you use data other than the immediate client's for your engagements, or data other than the firm's own for internal work? Free, scraped, paid for, obtained through other agreements? What's your experience getting data use approved?
Anyone else holding onto project work they don’t really need/like just for that sweet, sweet 1099?
Hi anyone in PwC up for referral and making new connection ? I am looking for internship.
A true story. Been working on a major deal and finally thought we got some headspace after multiple all-nighters. "Take tonight off, guys", partner says to team on a Wednesday. Senior associate/team lead is excited, gets out of the office at 5.30 and says he’s going for beers with friends tonight. I take my girl out for dinner and some beers too. 11.30. Bzzzz! It’s a partner in the London office on the case saying client needs some non-trivial input "preferrably by lunchtime GMT" 🙄🙄🙄
Did anybody go through the interview process with Deloitte for an SM role? Do you know what exactly they look for other than business development? I'm currently a director with PwC.
I'm working on an account that consists of 3 other agencies, each one has it's own project manager. One of the lead PMs developed the timelines for 2019 campaigns and all the rest of us are to (contd)

Let's just say you started a new job and a recruiter reaches out about a dream role. How do you approach the interview process? Do you come clean and say you just started a new job but would love to interview? Or do you not mention it all?
I have some interviews for product management roles at some Series C/D companies. I have a feeling I'll get at least one offer. Totally new to the start up game but given that these are both well onto the road to IPO (according to them) can I have them give me a breakdown of equity, strike price, outstanding shares etc? One is a PMM role too. 31, female in Boston if location maters at all when considering any of the above.
It’s interesting to see a lot of sales people want to learn about OTEs but nobody asks about quotas related to OTEs. Most companies make OTEs look attractive and then demand massive quotas and only 20-30% of people hit goals. I’m curious to learn about marketplace commission rates. What’s your quota target? What’s your commission % paid on every dollar up to 100% ? And what’s offered in accelerators above 100%?

I just started as a first year associate at a firm that does not have any organized pro bono, however there is an “uncapped” billable hours policy that would allow me to apply pro bono to my hours requirement. How would you suggest I go about getting into pro bono work? It’s my understanding it’s not done much at my firm.
