Given two candidates competent at basics you're looking for, would you rather hire a candidate that...
1. brings up relevant topics beyond what you're "really" hiring for, but can't answer in depth follow up questions
2. sticks to the basics they know

Asking because I feel like it's pretty typical interview advice to do #2, but then that doesn't seem to reconcile with wanting ambitious and eager to learn hires. Thoughts?

I have recently accepted a job with a company that doesn't have a great reputation, but means a great opportunity. Today, another company (which also represents a good opportunity, the role is a better fit, and has a great culture) has reached out to discuss compensation.

Is it too wrong to break my contract with the first company to take the opportunity in the second one if I ended up liking their offer?

I won't start in company A until next month, but I have signed the contract already.

Hi! New here, I was offered a contract position but I’m a newbie LPN so Im looking for any advice or guidance you guys have to offer! I meet with HR tomorrow to discuss the contract. Here are the details..it would be a 90 day contract position working weekend nights at a long term care facility in a very rural area. Looking for a treadmill for a standing desk. But also want one that I can run on. I would like walking distances to go up to 4-4.5 and running up to 8-9 mph. Would be great to have one of those that the rail and be moved and the treadmill placed under the desk for walking. Incline would be great. Found myself in a conversation with the branch manager (white male pushing thru his late 60's) about holiday decorations. I just told him how I've been directed by corporate to keep the winter holiday decorations as non denominational and he nearly exploded. Starts saying how Christmas is the "American Way" and "nobody is going to take MY Christmas" and "this is MY BRANCH, I will decorate for CHRISTMAS" and so much more. I'm just flabbergasted, frustrated but not surprised.
