AWS to gain tangible real experience, consulting is all BS & fluff
I wouldn’t call it too limiting. Every big company is moving to cloud, or already has. With a software dev background, you probably don’t want to work too much with the dinosaur companies that don’t.
I had an interview with AWS for advisory role, not really pleasant and interviewer pointed out on several occasions how that is not 9-5 job which I understood get ready to be burned out and we won't even hide it. Read some Glassdoor reviews too pointing out the same thing, which confirmed what's already known about Amazon culture.. Anyway I didn't get through that stage, which was good.. Director level at Cap is good stuff, probably less than 5 years to VP and I'd imagine at that grade there's no much delivery and wlb is ok.. Then also if it means anything Cap is ethical company way out of Amazon's league..
Aws hands down. You can easily go elsewhere with that.
Go anywhere and do what? I think every offshore devops guy knows AWS - isn’t it just an individual contributor salary glass ceiling skill set which I can learn elsewhere as a tool but not my whole gig?
Do you like managing pipeline and delivery? Or do you like typing and doing Visio diagrams?
I would think that is the case, but make sure you understand the role responsibilities for AWS role. I would expect more hands on delivery there
What are the comps?
