Boomerang and career do not go hand in hand. Unless you dream of being a prop in a Mad Max film

At what experience did you leave?

2.5 yoe. I couldn’t stand my group and team so staying there would have been tough

Did exactly that. Left as senior, worked for a year, boomeranged back at S3 to push for manager promote.

Spend a few more years in industry (preferably moving across units) to get hands on experience with whichever area within an organization you'd like to help when you boomerang back. I have seen people with 5-6 years of industry experience moving much faster through the ranks than career consultants. Instead of trying to land back at a grade above, get the skills that will continue to differentiate you with your colleagues at any rank for years to come.

Once you boomerang back, you're capped. You'll be known as someone who is flighty. It'll definitely hold you back in the next few promotion rounds. Only do this when you've got some serious weight behind you.

Do accounting firms have client development/relationship manager roles? If yes, do those people still have billable client hours? I am a career coach working with a CPA who is considering a pivot. My client wants to do pitch a role like this to their current firm but wants to know more about how this looks at other firms. If you do this kind of work - what does your role description entail? New/pivoting into HR! 👋 Currently working as a TA Coord with a little entry level work in HR Ops prior to this. Is there a SHRM link, reliable test, or method of shadowing the various parts of HR that will provide a sample of the work, thinking, and day to day experience of each group? I didn’t go to school for HR and therefore haven’t had the opportunity to sample HR Ops. vs. TA vs. Comp vs. Benefits vs. Payroll, etc. I know work experience is the best barometer, but what can supplement this?

9 months ago, I posted on this app that I was leaving FAANG for MBB. Every single responder discouraged me from doing it given worse WLB, less pay per hour worked, etc. I’m here to say that you were all correct. Every single one of you. I would go back in an instant if I could.

Need some advice: Boss and Partner came into town for two days last week. Most people got drunk, I did not, as I had 3 drinks over the 5 hours we were at dinner and then at the cigar bar. My Boss, (Senior Manager) made an inappropriate comment which I acted like I didn't hear and then I quickly left after that (I am quite aware I should have firmly put up my boundary right then and there) Next...

I was under the impression that this would be a teaching environment. Worst feeling when you feel stupid, and you know that everyone else thinks you are stupid too. Will prob b fired.

Would love to hear from moms whose babies went to daycare / school right after maternity leave (no nanny etc). Due in March and on the list for a stellar Montessori daycare / preschool near us to start in August (school year) when baby is 4-5 months old. Feeling guilty and struggling to decide if keeping baby home a year with a nanny is better, starting school in 2023? However, I’m worried about cost - we really would not be able to afford a nanny in our city on our salaries. Advice welcome!
