The more data points you’re willing to provide the easier it’ll be for all those involved! Have you done any competitive market research in salaries for similar roles in your field? That usually helps me as a recruiter when I take things back to leadership. Candidates who just throw out a number “just because” and can’t base it in any data lose credibility, esp if they are asking for significantly more cash

I have done my research and their offer is actually above average for the role. While it is above average, i will be letting go of another job that ive only been in for 7 months at a much larger company, retirement benefits, and a slightly more affordable health insurance package. The retirement benefits is whats most important to me and I was hoping to make up for that by getting a higher base salary.
