EY 1 i would agree and that’s how I’m going to treat it to give them an opportunity to grow, especially because they really seem to be making a much better effort but this is a person with past performance issues and who doesn’t ask tons of questions when actually doing their work.

I'm sure he/she messed it up on purpose just to mess with you.

I understand the annoyance and frustration but see it as a teachable moment. Sometimes we forget that all Associates aren’t all the same and all don’t have the same experiences and exposure on previous clients before working with us. Maybe no one taught them that or the situation didn’t come up for that opportunity. And we know some associate are lazier than others, some just follow PY while others will do that plus more (I.e. really ask questions so they know the purpose and objectives and even consult source itself). We just need to teach them and help to mold how they think things through as their Seniors. Do the best u can, I know sometimes there is no time for that but anywhooo...

Do your fking job and teach them. Maybe they worked for terrible people who didn’t teach them. Maybe they had a ‘dumb’ moment. Several possible things could have attributed.

Thats the plan and i responded as such above in the thread.

I’m gonna go against the grain here, I’m guessing this person didn’t bring it up until you got into review. And now that the variance is above threshold, you need to be the one to deal with the aftermath. I’ve been in the same situation, it sucks and if they’re an experienced associate, I would be surprised too why they wouldn’t grasp something so basic. When I was an associate I knew to project these errors as well so you’re not alone

like

Also just projecting an error is not always a solution. You need to understand the reasons and affected population. For example, when an error was made by temp who temporarily replaced someone who usually reviews it. In this case you will have to also look at everything posted by this temp and decide if it could be an error there. There could be millions of outcomes. Also look at compensating controls for specific assertions and if you found none, it could lead to changing in your other procedures (both 404 and substantive). And i would advise not to overreact - that is your job to do the review and to explain this to him/her. Also make sure this person knows where to look for (guidance) when he/she finds an error, so the next time it never happens.

I feel like you are secretly threatened by this person. It’s called a mistake.

Hi guys, I am due to start working at EY soon within audit. I will be commuting to the office by train when in the Birmingham office. This will be from Leicester. Usually if a commute is about 1.5 hours+, Mazars authorises hotels. Is there a similar policy at EY? When not in the office I would prefer to drive to clients, not sure if me being in Leicester affects whether they will tell me to suck up an extended commute? Would a mileage claim be from the office to the client? Thanks!
