I’ve been in consulting for 5+ years and I’m starting at MBB soon. I need tips for an introvert looking to build a brand, network, and eventually get promoted. Really wanting to break out of my shell and make a good impression! McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company
Does MBB compete mostly between themselves? Are there other firms that put up decent fights?
I’ve been working in cyber risk in the federal sector for a few years and I’m finding I enjoy “advise” projects much more than operate/implement (I’m guessing on the implement piece since I’ve done pursuits for it and seen the technical sections, but I haven’t done the work). If I wanted to pivot into a strategy firm and stay federal (or government in general), what firms would be ideal? I’m not basing it off prestige (MBB vs non MBB).
Has anyone here (MBB or similar hours) ever attempted to do a masters part-time? I feel like it’s out of reach for me unless I stop working or switch jobs, but would love to hear other perspectives.
Hello MBB sharks, Please mentioned your pathway to MBB. What college you went for undergrad, postgrad? If lateral hire, then above things + companies you worked before cracking MBB interviews.
Those of you who were married before you joined consulting, did you get pushback from your spouse? Mine was a MBB consultant before marriage. When I got an MBB offer our relationship changed (contd)..
I'm currently in biotech as a program manager, and I want to jump to consulting so that I can land in corporate strategy/BD or potentially commercial strategy / new products planning. What's the best strategy to get noticed by MBB outside of their more common recruiting pathways? I have a master's in business, biochem PhD, and ~3 YOE in a large cap biotech. I've connected with people here from life science specialist firms, but I want to know if shooting for MBB is realistic.
Hi ladies! I recently joined consulting and I’d love to grow my network & learn from strong female leaders. I want to hopefully apply and work at the MBB at some point and I’d love to network to learn more about your journeys/experiences etc & also make some friends in the industry haha Let me know if any of you are interested to connect over a cup of coffee ☺️☺️
Folks who moved from MBB to a top-tier tech firm (E.g. FAANG): how does the talent compare between the two?
For anyone with experience in both, how is WLB at Facebook compared to MBB? What about compared to other FAANG?
Does MBB recruit for US positions from Saïd? I’m a us citizen who is considering going to either do an ma, mba, or the joint program, then coming back. Thanks for the input.
7.5 years experience in it risk (currently a manager) no mba but part time in progress - any tips for breaking into mbb
Does anyone work in cloud strategy? I am just about to matriculate out of ccg into cloud strategy group at Deloitte. What sort of work do they actually do? (I’ve seen previous posts but not much detail) Also, do other Big 4, ACN and MBB also have cloud strategy practices? If so, how do they compare?
Junior folks aligned to PE practices (PEPI, PIPE, PEG), are you locked into your practice? Do you get to do other cases so that you don’t burn out on 20 PE deals in a year? currently at a T2 PE practice and want to lateral to MBB - any insights are appreciated!
For folks who have left MBB to go to another role in consulting or industry, what typically matters more, total YOE or the level at which you leave MBB? Also are YOE at MBB/consulting typically valued as more valuable than YOE elsewhere when applying for exit ops?
Is anyone currently or previously worked for USAA as an AML Investigator? What is their salary compensation compared to other banks?
Deloitte folks, is there still a freeze on bench hiring, specifically in the F&EP practice?
Reason 101 why mental health matters. Yes, this group is a subset within another subset, but it’s really sad that this many people could believe such nonsense. https://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2021/11/03/qanon-jfk-jr-dallas-trump-osullivan-newday-ldn-vpx.cnn
Finally get upgraded to 1st class and it's on a PTO trip to Nola. Sorry in advance to the girl who sat down next to me looking sick and miserable drinking hot tea. I'm getting after it
I got an offer: 140K & no bonus for the Manager, Architect (Remote - Medium COL) in Audit (Not Consulting). Looks like that is the best they could do. Based on my research by going through the levels and glassdoor, I was expecting in 160K -180K Range. Do you think my research numbers are off? Is that offer reasonable? or lowball given the current market? Please suggest. Thank you. Deloitte KPMG
I currently work at a big start up and made a lateral move to another team a few months ago with five years experience. Since then , I’ve created a whole new service line and took over many of my managers duties. As I took a paycut to join this team - I’m pushing for a raise and title change. Is this reasonable?
Salary expectations. I was rated a 3, I will be going from senior 1 to 2. I make 80K, JD and LLM. I am in the Midwest, not Chicago. What is a not slap in the face raise?
I am working at MSLGROUP as an Associate, less than 1 yoe , they have asked me to relocate in 4 weeks to the Location (currently wfh). Also I have an offer from one of the competitors based in my City. Relocating will shoot up my expenses and joining the competitor is kind of a downgrade in terms of brand. What do you think guys?
Bonus number? Anyone?
I am in the lateral interview process for NYC mid-sized firm Ellenoff Grossman & Schole and interested in finding out any non-publicly available information (culture, billable hours, salary scale etc.). Any information would be much appreciated!
Would you take this offer? 1.5Yrs post MBA at consulting firm. Headhunted to join FAANG at ~10% raise.
I got a bonus from my old Boston based employer in January 2021, by which time I’d moved to NYC for business school. I’m moving back to Boston after school so did not declare permanent residency here in NYC (vote and driver licensed in MA). So my domicile is in MA even though my current residence is in NY. Do I have to pay NY taxes on this bonus?
Ever see a flight to a vaca destination across from your client and say fuck it and take it?...I did it today, may get fired but oh well
What’s the L1a visa to green card conversion process like. I just competed my EB1 support letter and expecting my firm to submit my documents by Jan end.
So skimming the 2019 internet trends report as part of prep for a BizOps interview. Wow this stuff is really interesting, probably because I am a total tech newbie
Any tips for leaving the big 4? (How early in advance to look, recruiter/no recruiter, salary increase expectations, etc)
Any KPMG 🐠 have experience with scenario interviews? If so, how would you suggest preparing?
