It’s time for me to move on from my back office/CBS job at EY. I’ve been able to get through to recruiter and hiring manager screening round with FAANG employers and some tech companies but never beyond that. How can I differentiate myself when I’m probably also up against our client facing colleagues in consulting. I have about 12 years experience (7 at EY doing the same thing).

When the job market is precarious, employees are not well positioned for wage increases or bonuses.
Quite a few of my peers and I have already discussed moving on based on Friday’s call. We know promos are unlikely but we’re sitting around waiting in the event one of us gets that call. I think there are a number of people that probably feel the same. The transfer freezes, limited promos, and the current climate make it so that we don’t want to sit around to see what’s next.
Not sure but are layoffss anticipated? Or we are still growing strong?
Not sure anyone really knows. Much more likely now than it’s been in recent times. Depends on SL / practice as well obviously. Quasi hiring freeze and comp expense reductions are not signals to get excited about, that’s for sure.
