4 weeks prior to due date, 6 weeks std if vaginal birth, 8 weeks if c section. Then 16 weeks paid parental leave, any PTO, then unpaid leave to get CA PFL. Someone double check me

like

Take 3 weeks prior to due date, and then the rest. Do I use the whole disability weeks first then start the 16 weeks of EY parental leave? Also, when should I file with CA for disability leave? I called the leave management team and the lady wasn't clear about all of this. She just sent me a general email with forms. I would appreciate your help! :)

Thank you so much EY1!

I’m not sure if some of you other firms have heard but EY America’s recently switched to “unlimited PTO”. I want to know your thoughts and if you’d like your firm to do it. We do have 19 paid holidays up from 12 last year.

Am I doing it wrong or right? i just started making $120K base (jumping from 80K). I thought that’s going to be significantly more of take home pay, but turns out I’m only going to bring home $4.5K/month. which is same as before 🥺. This is because I’m gonna start maxing out my 401K, HSA, Roth, and buying company stocks (which I didn’t do before). Damn those things add up quickly! 😭 120K - 9K FICA tax - 20K Federal tax - 19.5K max 401k - 6K Roth - 2.6K HSA - 8K company stock = 54K/year. 🤪

Help!? Have 100k in cash (had been <stupidly> conservative about investing while paying loans). 90k addl. coming in to invest on annual basis going forward (what’s left of base + bonus after taxes, maxing 401k, and all expenses), which mostly comes in end of year bonus (55-60k post tax) and rest monthly (3kish a month). Only big goals are buying house (~$1.25M ballpark) in ~3yrs, contribute to 529 (plan for 1 kid) and maximize long term net worth potential. How would you approach it all?

Got an offer from a really small consulting firm that offers no health insurance or 401k match. Otherwise the firm seems like a great fit and something I’d love to be a part of. Long story short - my nanny has many conservative values - mom shaming breastfeeding in public, gender specific roles, considering boys better than girls etc. it never bothered me before and I have learned to co exist with her however now my toddler is speaking and understanding more I am worried about him being influenced by her. Further she also has comments against my SO being too involved parent & calling out son as cutie, hugging toddler etc as he is a boy. Contd..

Mom Guilt I think I just need to vent. Last week, I had a partner throw me on something last minute and I was not able to work on my own assignments as I originally planned. In the end, I only had like 30 minutes to blaze through an assignment before I had to run out to pick my toddler up from daycare. I got there at exactly 6pm and she was the only baby who had not been picked up. It was so heartbreaking to see her sitting there, sad, waiting for me. I had to stop myself from crying…

How do you get over the anxiety of potentially picking the wrong next job? I’ve always felt like I made the wrong career decisions in adulthood (e.g., not taking up computer science in undergrad, the consulting offer I picked after undergrad was in a low growth area, the second job I picked ended up having a terrible manager). As I get closer to finishing interviews and getting offers, I dread trying to figure out where to go because I’m sure I’m going to pick the wrong thing.
