You sound like wrong post ^
I have been, and I always stayed at hotels. I'd try to find ones with suites though. Residence Inn was nice because it had a little kitchen with a full fridge so I could grocery shop for myself and make my lunches, etc. I like to find hotels with hot breakfasts in the mornings too 👌🏼
Always a hotel for the points, residence inn may be nice but you only get half the points as most other Marriott brands
Don't be upset about the hotels; you get tons of points and you don't have to worry about keeping two apartments clean. Maybe look for a hotel that has a kitchen in the room so you can buy groceries instead of eating takeout everyday.
You sound like you're watching the NIT by mistake. It's exciting because there always a ton of upsets and close games.

I did a long term engagement in high CoL area so my hotel points were off the chart. I also got sick of the same room/neighborhood so I moved hotels once a week to keep things fresh. I ended up coming out with a ton of hotel points that are still paying for hotel stays years down the road (obviously still earning points in the meantime.)
I stayed at an extended stay hotel. Cleaning once a week and a kitchenette
